Rex Supply 1955

I recently bought a tub of this from Pasteur's after reading the intro ad and being intrigued. I had never bought any Razor Emporium product before that I can recall. Regardless, I have used this gem three times and just wanted to "plug" it here since it's made in house by an American vendor and is just simply outstanding as a soap!! Tallow & glycerin gooeyness is over the top!!! I can only discern the hyacinth & gardenia scents which are medium strength to my schnozz, but very narcotizing and flat out pleasant. 

I believe in the past WSP made their soaps, but now they are made in house. The closest thing I can measure it to is Viking shave soap out of Iowa which is another tallowy gem that flies under the radar. I very rarely buy full tubs of soap anymore as I dabble with samples and past purchases, but I cannot recommend this one enough.

I have a tub of razor emporium old school. I initially tried it during a pass around and ended up getting the remainder of the tub as part of a BST deal. I’m not sure if it’s the same base, but I find this soap different than the 6 or so other mainstream vendors I’ve tried. The soap lathers quite well, and I dig the depth of flavor. What is strange to me is hard to describe - it’s something to do with the texture. It crackles! Most soaps seem to be slathery and creamy. This has a stiffer texture (unrelated to how well hydrated) and just…. Crackles…as I lather it. This is by no means a criticism, it’s just a quality of the lather. Anybody else notice this with razor emporium soaps?

Nope. Their first soap was the King R. Emporium, which was, and still is, made by PAA. All of their Razor Emporium and Rex soaps are made in-house by DJ and always have been. We got to see her make a batch at the meetup last year.

DJ makes great soaps for them. The Razor Emporium Lavender is superb.

I bought the 1955. Also great!!

I picked up the sample pack of RE soaps. It is a good soap. I ended up grabbing a full tub of the barbershop. Used it last night. Great scent and a good performer. I'll probably pass around the samples when I'm done trying the ones I'm intrigued by.

Lavender was not in the sample pack, but I'm not a fan of Lav soaps. Some unique scents there though... Fireside and Element 47, for example.

I had been chatting with the owner. He says they'll probably make a sample of 1955. If so, I'll likely grab that to try.

I vaguely remember someone releasing a Williams tribute soap, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Razor Emporium. If it was, it had to have been made for them by another artisan. Razor Emporium, any comment?

The CT Yankee is great! Tallow, smells a little like real citronella. A pleasant scent, not like Arko.

The only bummer for me is the small tin. I think this one is made by WSP for RE.
