Rex Ambassador owner thread

Build quality is good, but I don't want to have to obsess over form for a comfortable shave. We'll see how the next few weeks if shaves pan out.

Rex finally arrived last week. First shave wasn't what I was expecting and was harsher at setting 3 than the Rockwell using the 4 plate that I've gotten used to over the last two months. I, too, noticed the top cap had some drag to it and wasn't sliding well. Will work on the techniques discussed here.

Only the first shave, but I'd have liked a better first impression given the three month wait since placing the order and the price point.

My Rockwell 6s was much smoother I too found some drag with the Rex even though it is a wonderful built razor

I'm a lucky owner of a Rex Ambassador, I find it amazing. Excellent balance with optimal handle grip.. The blade gap adjustment is very intuitive. Truly a beautiful razor with a fair and interesting quality / price ratio.

I own a Rex and man it's pretty damn sweet. I started at a 4 and immediately increased it to the max setting. Definitely is one of the razors I have used. Very smooth and provides and excellent shaving experience.

My only criticism is that I thought there were going to be built in stop gaps for each setting but I guess that never got added.

Just go it in several minutes ago. High polish finish and expertly made. It doesn't get any better. Best part made in USA.

Nice looking razor! I read that the '17 models had a more dull brushed finish. So did Rex Co. refine the finish on these newer models?

Has anyone ordered the travel case for their Rex? I pulled the trigger on the Black Friday sale. It's currently back logged so I probably won't get it anytime soon.

I know there was talk of chemical polishing. I don’t know if he started doing this.

A bump for the thread. I hadn’t used the Rex in some time and decided to have a shave with it today. No fuss and no muss shave. A very comfortable and efficient shave that left me BBS in 2.5 passes with hardly any irritation to speak of. Started off on 4 and finished on 2 without a single issue. Everytime I use it it just reminds me of how good and robust this razor really is. Substantial feeling razor but, it’s properly balanced in the hands with excellent tactile grip on the handle that the knurling provides. Ease of maneuverability is up there with some of the better ones that I’ve used and build quality is top notch. Maintenance and clean up with this razor is a breeze. If I had to say a minor thing that I notice with it is that when I complete a stroke/pass, there’s usually not enough residual slickness that is left behind. So in my experience I never go over a spot twice without a quick touch of lather. Besides taking off the whiskers, it also removes all semblance of lather and leaves nothing behind. Again, that’s just me. And in reality, I’m just nitpicking here with the Rex. Just an excellent tool that gets the job done smoothly and efficiently.

I’ve only had my Rex for a few weeks, but it’s clearly the best adjustable I’ve used (although the Karve/F is right up there), even if I only use the highest setting on all my adjustables (Slim at 9, Rockwell 6S at 6, Variant at whatever its max is, Karve at F, etc.). The Rex at 6.5 (I haven’t tried the other settings) is a tremendous, close, smooth, long-lasting shave. The Karve/F is close, and different, but the Rex will be a regular in my den.

I currently own one of the new N2 batch Rex razors. Has anyone noticed that the guard bar or bottom plate that goes up and down when adjusted isnt exactly level? It's more noticeable when adjusted to the 5 or 6 setting. how can i fix this?

I would contact Razor Emporium. I'm confident that they would take care of this issue for you.
