Sadly, I'm traveling and don't want to risk taking the Rex. I'll miss it. Been using almost everyday since received.

Terrible fifth shave with a third different blade. I am unable to use one side of the razor at all due to its blade exposure / Gap issue. It's just too harsh and irritates the skin. The other side is smooth. Matt has indicated in another thread for me to mail it back to him for fixing it. I am sure he will as he stands by his products. Unfortuantely I have travelled back to India and will be back to the USA mid August. Till such time I guess I'll have to pack it and keep it back in its box.. it will be missed Sad

Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
Rex Ambassador (6.5)
Gillette 7 O'Clock Permasharp Stainless(3)
Yaqi Mysterious Space (24mm Finest Fan, Frigate Class)
Stirling Island Man soap and AS

At 6.5 the Rex is just as efficient as the Blackland Dart, but much much smoother.

Man that’s crazy, 6.5 is a really large gap. I use mine usually at the lowest setting. Like .75 or whatever it is. 1-1.5 if I am feeling crazy.

Gap doesn't even begin to tell the whole story. The Dart has more blade exposure than the Rex. By eye, I'd estimate the Dart gap to be roughly equivalent to the Rex on 3 or so, but the blade exposure would put it somewhere around a 7 or more on aggressiveness. My Karve E also has a bigger gap than the Dart, but the Dart is more aggressive and more efficient at cutting CLOSE, especially in the trouble spots (don't have an F to compare). The Karve, OTOH, feels smoother than the Dart.

I use the almost the whole range of the Rex and the Dart, depending on what I'm doing. Lower settings take a lot of buffing on the flat, random grain of my throat (like all mild razors), but are more comfortable around my mouth. One WTG pass with the Dart is good enough to go to work, and it is incomparable for shaving the trouble spots close. In two passes, it can get as close as other razors do in 3, but yes it does require more careful use.

I can get a good shave leaving the Rex wide open or mostly closed through the entire shave. It just takes some adjustment in technique.

I don't plan to sell the Rex OR the Dart. They both have their place. Of course, the Rex is going to be a good fit for more people, but costs twice as much.

The Rex is my first and only modern "premium" razor, but won't be my last. I will say though, if you were only going to have 1, I think the Rex is probably the perfect option!

I use this razor for about two months. I consider it the best (and as far as I know, so far the only) offer among adjustable stainless steel razors. Good works with "Sputnik" blades. BBS shaving on settings 4/5/5-6 at WTG/XTG/ATG.

It took a motivating group buy for me to buy the Rex. I see plenty of high end razors talked about here, but I figure depending on the setting, the Rex shaves as good or better than any of them. Not even a quiver of razor envy for me.
