Just got this razor in today. I pre ordered it back in April for my wife as she loved the Fatboy so much I thought this would be great for her. She used it today on a setting 3 and told me it was a nice comfortable shave, I believe her as she has tried other razors of mine in the past that she didn't particularly care for and would let me know after her shave was over. So I get home from work today and gave it a go. I had to see for myself of course.
I went straight for the setting 6 as I had 3 days growth and I have rather coarse hair. First stroke: I can feel the blade (Bolzano) as I drag the razor down my neck and it feels absolutely wonderful. As I continued my shave I felt more and more comfortable handling the razor. The grip on it is awesome, there is certainly no feeling of slippage from your fingers that's for sure. I don't know what I would compare the razor to in terms of aggressiveness in setting six but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with sensitive skin. When I finished my shave there was absolutely no irritation and not a single weeper, dare I say it even shaved closer than my Muhle R41. I cannot explain how amazed I was by how this guy performed. On performance alone I would give it a 10
My only complaint is the finish on the razor. The polishing could use work as you can certainly see quite a bit of imperfections on the cap and the bars of the razor. For the price, I would certainly expect more on the finish. The imperfections look as if you poked it with a needle and left tiny little flea bite indentations and the top cap shows signs of the machining process. Also, some uneven areas around the edges of the cap due to the polishing as well. If you're picky of the finish on your razors I wouldn't recommend this for you because it is not perfect in this area. But.... if you want a great shaver that could possibly replace all others without having to worry about it taking a beating and lasting you a lifetime, then you got yourself an amazing daily driver.
