Saw somewhere a post about how GD soaps are great for the skin and the difference is really seen after a few weeks of consistent use. I like the soaps, but I'm fickle and as an owner of a ton of soaps, it's hard to put together two or three weeks of daily use of one brand regardless of how much I like it. It'd be easier -- though still near impossible -- if those weeks could consist of both vegan and tallow formulas. Those who've experienced this kind of consistent use and seen a difference, is it consistency with one formula (maybe tallow) or is it consistent use of the brand?

I'm responding to UngerWoo who wrote the above. This is from the other thread that is now closed so that posting can be done here in the merchant area.

You don't need weeks of use. I thought that too. But I felt the difference immediately on the first shave. The after the shave feeling lasted all day and clear to the next shave.

I think the Vegan base has a tad more after the shave goodness but I love the Duck fat base just about as much. The new Tallow base is on it's way to me and I will report soon as I get them and try them.

There is something similar about them though between the Vegan and the Duck fat. And it's GOOD.

I know you think it will be hard. And if you still feel that way, rotate between others. But I'm betting you will want to just rotate between GD soaps and bases.

They are special. I never thought I'd find such enjoyment in a soap but low and behold, here I am and that's exactly how I feel.

Load up. Vegan, Duck fat, Tallow. And rotate away. Let us know your experience.

Just a reminder — there is also a separate Reviews section at your disposal, here: https://damnfineshave.com/reviews

If you post Grooming Dept reviews there, you could paste the relevant link (or copy the entire review) in this thread. Just an option.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Absinthe & Leather (Based on two shaves over two days)

Performance: Great. Slick and good residual slickness (even in 18% indoor humidity)
Soap base: I like the firmness of the puck. Not hard, but not soft. Easy to load without getting into a pasty caulk.
Lather: Very good. Handles water well so you can cater to your preference of thicker or thinner. Painted up my face nicely Smile
Post: Pretty good. Unless a soap is glaring drying I don't notice much difference with top shelf soaps. I have aftershave after-all. (I will say that GD & WK stand out in this regard)
Scent: I mostly get a leather jacket scent with some faint background spices. To me, this is a more direct/simple leather scent (which is fine)
Rating: 4.5/5 (everything about the soap is 5 stars, lost some points for the scent but that is subjective)

Thank you for your business. So happy you like the performance of the soap. This is one of the first reviews of the tallow base. You and I had a discussion about slickness in various climates Smile I made sure this base deals with the drop in humidity.

Based off this review I’m excited to get this one and glad I added it. I was hoping for a leather jacket type scent. A very powerful scent for me.
