That soap you reviewed is no different than a bath soap recipe so I'm not surprised with your results. I make bath soaps (not shave soaps) and just tried lathering one of mine just to see what kind of lather it produces and it was very foamy and light, and dissipated as well. The ingredients for the one I just tried are: distilled water, palm oil, olive oil, coconut oil, sodium hydroxide, castor oil, unrefined shea butter, sweet almond oil, sodium lactate.

Yes, your 100% right so the moral of the story is know your market and see whats out there before hand. Don't think you can pass a bath bar as a shaving soap. Do the research.

This reminds me of the one time I shaved with something not labeled a shaving soap. It was PAA's Cavendish shampoo bar. When using it to wash my hair I noticed how unbelievably thick and creamy the lather was. I figured "hey I could try shaving with this". So I did. It actually worked pretty well. The cushion was great and slickness was on par, but post shave was lacking so that was the end of that experiment. I would never try shaving with a typical bar of soap though, that sounds horrible.
