Company: Mystic Water Soap
Product: Lemon Verbena Shaving Soap
Founder: Michelle Burns, Soap Artisan
Location: Riverdale Park, MD

Ok, Let me start off by saying I screwed up. I ordered a refill instead of tub  So I can’t talk about the packaging.
Michelle runs her shop out of Riverdale Park, MD where she’s been making artisan soap for close to fifteen years. At first making bath bar soap Michelle found out quickly that it’s not as easy as it sounds to make a good shaving soap. I think the old saying is “If it’s olive oil or clay stay away” So after reformulation and many failed attempts Michelle got it right and lucky for us because she makes a wonderful shaving soap.

Lemon Verbena is an herbaceous plant, which is said to be a summer scent. I happen to agree but to me the lemon was lost to a more floral side with a slight hint of lemon. On the scent scale from 1 to 10 I would give this a 5.5 to 6 in strength.

Lathering took a little more work than what I’m used to and lots of water. Once you start you will notice an explosion of scent. The lather was good but I did notice a slight thinning after applying but corrected this from the brush until it was under control. I had plenty of slickness and glide during the entire shave.

I had a wonderful shave with Lemon Verbena it has an enjoyable scent. I'm looking forward to trying some other offerings from Mystic Water Soap. If anyone has any suggestions on scents please post them.

Thanks for the review: I have MW Jasmine and Orange Vanilla. Both are excellent performers and I enjoy the scents when in the mood for something on the sweeter side.

The Jasmine smells very natural which I like and the Orange Vanilla is biased to the Vanilla over the citrus- I very much like it and used it earlier this week paired with Clubman.

I have Poggio dei Pini and Marrakesh on my list based on the recommendation of a friend but have not tried as of yet.

I have samples of Poggio dei Pini and Barbershop, both are Michelle's formula that contains lanolin as well. PdP is probably my favorite "woodsy" scent I've smelled. It has a hint of fresh pine and evergreen (live trees, not a block of pine wood) but it also has a very sweet quality to it that really rounds out the evergreen scent. The barbershop is also very nice, it's also on the sweeter, more sugary side of barbershop scents. If you've smelled Stirling's Barbershop they are similar, but Stirling has a stronger scent strength. The strength on both is medium, they are not "in your face" but very detectable.

Mystic Waters is my number 1 soap! First experience with MW was when I tried out her Eucalyptus and Spearmint. Ever since then, I use MW 3 times a week. I just tried the Sensitive and I can't think of another soap with as rich a lather. I have horribly dry skin and this one leaves my face feeling very good.
