Being a soap artisan has to be one of the toughest jobs. Always trying to top your last creation has to keep you on your toes. Well I’m happy to say Shwan from Men’s Soap Company has done just that. This time with Everest, a lavender shaving soap that was just released. His new creation has improvements in many areas.

The packaging is a welcome upgrade from just the cardboard box offered with Himalaya. I for one would like to see a refresh for Himalaya and have a tub designed as an option. Maybe not to load your brush from but to store it when not in use. Everest comes in solid white plastic bottom tub with a black screw on lid for the top. Side labels listing the ingredients Net Wt. 4.0oz and website information is repeated on the top label along with the company logo.

If you’re a lavender lover, then this scent is for you. Although the website states that this is a subtle scent the strength from the tub is way stronger than Himalaya and seems to increase when in use. The texture is like that of a hard soap from the tub. I tired but couldn’t make a dent in the soap and since I use a lathering bowl I began to scour it out using my plastic spoon like tool and to my surprise the texture had changed from being rock solid to a soft pliable soap allowing me to press it right in to the lathering bowl.

I used a Razor Rock synthetic brush along with my R89 Grande for this shave. This brush had slightly more backbone than the others synthetics I own and was perfect for the job. I placed a loaded brush worth of water into the bowl and began to lather. It only took less then a min to start showing peaks and then this wonderful lather presented itself alone with it’s increased lavender scent. A thick creamy lather that truly was amazing. This lather held on to my beard and provided a thick layer of protection and great coverage. The slickness and glide during the shave was tops allowing me to go over spots I had missed without fear of irritation. It ended with a nice post shave feel.

I topped the whole thing off with an aftershave balm from Barberry Coast Shave Co. called Lavender Royale. What a pairing, I couldn’t have selected a better match, it was perfect.

My skin has been suffering from adult acne lately. The stress I’m under to take care of my wife (she is disabled) on a daily basis is starting to manifest itself in outbreaks. Using both these products for the week have contributed to an overall improvement in my skin. Shwan's soap is all natural with the list of ingredients such as All natural vegetable-based plant ingredients. Glycerin, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Sodium Castorate (Castor) Oil, Sodium Hydroxide (Saponifying Agent), Purified Water, Carthamus Tinctorius (Hybrid Safflower) Seed Oil, Sorbitol (Moisturizer), Shea Butter, Soy, Lavender Fragrance

I’ve said this before and I think it deserves repeating when I reviewed Himalaya I stated that you have to make your own decision about glycerin based soaps. Some soap artisans will try to convince you glycerin based soaps are inferior and should be avoided but you know the truth. So enjoy your hobby, try everything and come to your own conclusions.
