I first reached out to James about a week ago. I was asked to do a review on his shaving soap from one of our community members who saw a posting of it. When I emailed James to ask if he would be interested he told me he’s been a member of Wet The Face on google+ including my other social media outlets for about 8 to 9 months and would be happy to send me a sample. After our conversation I took a look at his ETSY store. Its jam packed with amazing shaving products not to mention face & body, skin moisturizers and gift sets.

James sent me three shaving soaps. A sample of Nekkid which is an unscented tallow based soap. The other two are based on the same scent called Cold Water one is glycerin while the other is tallow. Cold Water happens to be James’s version of Cool Water a cologne by Davidoff for men a great scent that I really like which is what this review will be based on. The notes on Cold Water: Top notes of citrus, black currant and pineapple. The middle notes are made of honeydew, muguet and water lily and the base of the fragrance is vetiver amber and mulberry.

The 3.0oz tin is your standard metal gauge with a push on lid. The label on top has all the important information such as company location, website address and soap ingredients which includes Purified Water, Stearic Acid, Tallow, Shea Butter, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance Oil, Sunflower Oil.

As soon as the tin is open the scent explodes. I like the scent James came up with it has the similarity Cool water but yet a uniqueness to it that can stand on it’s own. The scent strength is strong from the tin and does increase slightly with loading.

This is a not a hard soap and since I like to use a lathering bowl this posed no problems in placing the soap inside. After adding the water from my soaked brush into the bowl I started to lather. It took a little longer to get to the point where I thought it was ready maybe it was too much water but regardless of that it was well worth the wait. I created a rich creamy lather with great coverage and grabbed onto my 5-day old beard with ease. For this shave I used my RazoRock German slant 37 which is becoming my go to razor. The wonderful slickness and glide in this soap allowed my razor to ride over my face with carefree ease. Which in turn produced a wonderful post shave feel.

With so many soaps to choose from you’ll find it hard not to find something you like. BTW James announced on Aug 21 you can save 50% by using coupon code “LABORDAY50” during checkout. I've also seen a coupon codes section you might want to check out as well.

I just bought a bunch of Fuzzy Face soap and love it. I consider it to be comparable to the many high quality artisan soaps as far as their ability to provide a quality lather supporting a great shave.

Here are the ones I've tried. Any comments are specific to the scent.

Tobacco & Bay Leaf - Great scent, more on the Bay Leaf side. Had a great shave with it this morning.
Dragon's blood - haven't used this one yet.
Sensuous Sandlewood - Great shave, I couldn't really pick up much scent from this one.
Cherry Pipe Tobacco - Probably my favorite. Cherry is the predominant scent.
Barbershop - Great shave

He threw in a sample of Naked, which works great.

This soap is well worth the cost at full price. The 50% off coupon makes it a 'must purchase'

Totally agree on the value you'd be foolish not to at least try them at that price. James has done his homework and it comes out in his products for sure.

I just put in an order for seven of the Fuzzyface soaps. I'm excited! What a great coupon he's offering.

I shaved tis evening with the Sensuous Sandalwood. Counter to what I said above, one the soap was wet the scent bloomed to just the right level. The only explanation I can think of is allergies were interfering with my sense of smell last time.

I love his soap base. I can't say that I've ever experienced a better soap base and I've tried all the greats other than the ones from PannaCrema.

Anyone tried one of the glycerin soaps? Tallow doesn't like me, so I ordered the Beau Brummel glycerin...

Tallow is great but we do have so many great artisan glycerin soaps

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the FuzzyFace glycerin base.

Guess I'll know for myself in a few days...
