Removing wax from blades

I just don't see the wax spots as that big a deal. I scrape the old wax off of the waxiest of the bunch with an old blade. With a little care sharp stuff really won't hurt anyone?? Use a piece of cardboard that's stiff enough if that makes you feel happy? A piece of any of the grocery store boxed food stuff. That works fine too? WHat's the big deal? Anything worth doing requires some practice and some minimal care in procedure!!! I'm more worried about cutting meat with a sharp kitchen knife than I am in handling a razor blade?

oldie, for me it isn't the sharpness of the blade; I palm strop my blades so, as you say, using caution is best.  However, it is the getting the blade off the paper and then, the way it makes cleaning the razor that much more of a pain.  You're right, it's not the end of the world but if some blade manufacturers can eliminate the whole wax thing without a problem then why not all? I guess that is what a lot of us are wondering.

Wax spots are irritating and I admit it feels better to unwrap a nice, clean, new blade. But, I still end up using blades with wax spots and I very rarely clean off the spots from the blades.

I think Marko is on to something about the vintage/pedigree of the machines used. And, it would be nice if manufacturers would load a more water soluble substance into said machines if they must use wax.

Kai has no wax as others have pointed out, and it happens to be my favorite blade overall. I alternate between Feather and Kai in my AS-D2, but will probably stick to Kai for future orders. They cost twice as much as Feather, but last twice as long for me. Both are great blades though, just wish Feather would stop with the annoying wax.

Put me in the annoyed camp. I'll use them on occasion but I would never do a bulk purchase of the blades with the wax dots. Thankfully my go to blades are Personna's.

I'm anal about.a lot of things but wax on razor blades isn't one of them. I have never tried to remove the wax and seem to get pretty good shaves every day.

I guess I never really noticed them enough to care. I suppose that sometimes when a when a razor has sat long enough with a blade in it, some of the wax seems to transfer and make spots on the cap. Meh. They wipe off, like all the other gunk that shows up.

Hot water and off they go. Having said that, as long as they are not along the blade itself I don't worry much.
