Red Tip and Fatboy head profile the same?

Many people discuss the differences between the Fatboy and the Slim head profiles. I've noticed that the head on the Red Tip is very different from the slim. Is it the same as the Fat Boy? The Red Tip puts much more arch on the blade than other heads that I have seen.

Anxious to hear the answers to this, too, Brent. As a returnee to wet shaving and with one vintage Gillette in hand and another on its way, the head geometry is a concern. So far, the smaller heads treat me better for the interstices in areas of my face.

Beamon, I got numerous responses and much more help on another forum. General consensus seemed to be that they are close, very close. Close enough that your face would have a difficult time decerning which is which.
I can't speak from experience, I'm just relaying what others said. Hope that helps you. I know it did me.

I'd like to help but I don't understand what you are referring to in "head profile." All I can say is that my recommendation to one and all is to have both.
The Red Tip is the most aggressive of any of the Gillette non-adjustable "Superspeed" line of razors, while also being unusually smooth. Perhaps the arched razor blade conformation you refer to is the engine behind the Red Tip's genius. Can you tell that I love the Red Tip?

I suspect that metallurgists might be able to spend considerable ink in a discussion of how the arch or bowing of the blade affects the shave. When stressed by arching do molecules of the steel get all excited and rearrange themselves causing a given blade to perform differently v. no arching? How does the Red Tip with its pronounced arch compare with, say, the Wolfman and its lack of arch when locked in place? Do blade coatings change the equation?

If I sit and think about this stuff very much, my head starts to hurt! If, in my second foray into wet shaving, I'm lucky enough to stumble on a razor/blade combination that gives me the shave I'm seeking, I'm going to sit back, relax and keep my mouth shut in the future, while others search for their nirvana.

Ted, what I mean by "head profile" is the shape of the head, specifically the top cap or barn doors on the red tip and fat boy razors. They have a much more pronounced arch than the NEW, Slim, and EJDE89 that I have. Some people, like you obviously, enjoy having the more arched head profile while others complain that it is to tall and cumbersome in some areas of their faces. I happen to have a red tip and not a fat boy so I was curious to know if I were getting a similar fat boy feel from the head of the red tip.
Beamon, haha! I'm not expecting the molecules to move around any with the arched head on the Red Tip! What I do know is that the Gillette engineers, designers, or whomever they were that came up with the Super Speed heads were freaking geniuses!! I literally had to check my face after a pass to see if the blade removed whiskers or if the safety bar just removed my lather! It's that smooth and comfortable. Unfortunately for me, the shave was kinda, meh, because I did not have the angle perfected. At some point in the future I'll spend time with it and see if I can get it figured out.

The fatboy head is a little taller than the super speeds. It's practically the same as the toggle adjustables however.

The Slim Adjustable replaced the Fatboy and was an improvement because Gillette was able squeeze the functionality of the Adjustable design into the head / handle design of the Super Speed series.
