I have a small (the regular size) Captains Choice bowl and while it is beautifully built, the lather does spill out of it for me so I’m looking to get a bigger / differently shaped lather bowl. Any recommendations? Thanks for your insights.

Pereira Unbreakable, Large CaYuen, and Symmetrical Pottery are all solid choices for larger bowls.

The Timeless shaving bowl is awesome. It's also rather cheap, in comparison to other bowls on the market.

Not nearly as stylish as the Captain Choice or other offerings, but it's really a performer.[Image: 78935bc445cd9fddfdbe6ce8c5766ecc.jpg][Image: 5421a15c797f1f7462d3fe95fd9392b1.jpg]

Good one too. No risk of lather spilling out with this one. Cheap too

I must confess that I really dislike the shape of the Captain's Choice bowls - too shallow, and the vertical sides.
I prefer bowls that are more like a hemisphere, close to 100 mm diameter across the top, and 50 mm deep.
I got these at a grocery store for under $5.

Thin-walled stainless steel. The round profile makes it easier to avoid knocking the handle against the side, and to reach all around the bottom with the brush.
I got the second one to experiment with, planning to deepen the bumps with a hammer and rounded punch.

[edit] Also check out large rounded soup mugs and latté bols.

I'll double up on the recommendations for a CaYuen Lathering Dish (comes in two sizes) and the Timeless Shaving Bowl. I have the CaYuen Dish on my countertop and use it daily. Looks good and great for making lather. I use the Timeless Bowl for travel.

+1 on the Periera Unbreakable. I was looking for a larger bowl and this fit my needs. It also has a nice brush rest on the handle.

Nice looking lather!

Cayuen large, Pereria large or Timeless. Fine is too short. Most stainless too slick. If you like large brushes you will like large bowl.
