Ready for use? You sure about that?

these boxes are for originality only.

I used to collect old Parker & Montblanc fountain pens. if I got a pen with the box, I would take it out of the box, carefully store the box and into the ultrasonic cleaner the pen would go, not to be rejoined with the box unless being sold. You usually do not want to use alcohol on those materials, with a razor I suspect it's fine though.

some people continue to not take this kind of health & safety stuff as seriously as they ought to. it's just a shame that sometimes they are not the ones that pay the price for it hrug:

I consider myself to be a clean person and even more so in these days. I clean my shave gear but I try to not go overboard because I am confident that a razor or shave brush I bought new or used will be what kills me. I am not stupid or reckless but I try to not worry about THINGS and live my life FREE. I don't quarantine boxes I deliver them for a living and be as safe as I can the rest is out of my hands. My wife and I discussed the virus and worrying earlier tonight, she is a worrywart and I am not we are all different.

You're welcome @"nikos.a"  - honestly, when I saw the condition of the case that the razor came in I was appalled.  I'd always thought that my dad was a careful man who treated his tools well but when I saw that box it was apparent that I had possibly misjudged him.  The razor was in rough shape too, it was missing an end cap and lots of wear but that can happen.  The state of the case told me that he'd regularly put the thing away wet and who knows, maybe with soap scum and whisker detritus adhering.  Gross.  Maybe I was switched at birth

Marko, I don't think it was just your dad. Back in the day, they didn't pay much attention to these. I've found little gems like the one you have that were in the worst condition possible. It was just tools for them to get the work done. If it shaved, it shaved. The same applies for most men nowadays. Their razor handles and plastic cases (Gillette Sensor Excel and Mach3 used to come in stand cases) look horrible with lots of leftover foam etc. We as hobbyists are more attached to these items than the average user, we take great care of them.
I think people should pay more attention to these little but essential details. They touch your face after all.

It's not that easy to clean these cases. You take the risk of destroying the case inner material and that could lead to the depreciation of your set. I'd say keep your cases (clean them a bit, no harsh cleaning techniques with chemicals) but don't store the razors you have in your rotation back in them. This is what I used to do when I had razor sets in my possession.

All in all, a person that's in the beginning of this hobby should be more careful and don't always take the seller at his words.

I'm with you on this Nikos, somehow I don't have a high level of confidence that Mr. Maggard cleans these items as thoroughly as he might if he were putting a razor blade in them and shaving his own face.  As ShadowsDad said, I trust my cleaning and nobody else's .

A few years ago my father gave me his old Gillette Aristocrat - it was in rough shape but the case was worse.  I had the razor restored and replated by RazorPlate but the box is a write off - I've been looking on and off on eBay for an old aristocrat with a nice case for cheap.  For the record, since restoration the razor hasn't been near that old box.

That purple velvet looks like my pillow.........ah come on.  I'm teasing.  I too am a bit of a germophobe.  I was weird and took high level microbiology classes as electives while earning a degree in economics.  Yep.  Germs are everywhere.

Three in my first twenty years job as pharmacist, three in the last weeks.

It's not that easy to clean these cases.

ischiapp how are people abusing masks resulting in a fungal infection?  Are they just re-using the things and leaving them damp and dirty?  My daughter is a nurse and works in the NICU - she says the N95 mask is a single use mask good for about an hour - people are wearing the same one for who knows how long

The problem is that there are NO masks for everyone.
And also that people are superficial, so they don't ask themselves the question of how to use a tool they don't know.
Unfortunately, in this case the instrument itself can be harmful, if used incorrectly ... as it is necessary now, for lack of alternatives.

Even we second level health workers do not have enough.
In many hospitals even doctors, nurses, first aid workers ... do not have enough.
There are dozens of doctors and nurses dead.
And also some pharmacists like me.

The current numbers are around 40 MLN of masks per week.
Actually we should use 120 MLN per day.
In practice, is missing 95% of what is needed.

I read an article on proper use of masks and I suspect that almost all non-medical persons who are using them are doing it incorrectly.  Also as you point out, improper use can be harmful, such as touching the outside of the mask with your hands when removing it and then touching yourself or surfaces thereby transferring virus.  The rest of the world is aware of the tragedy unfolding in Italy and it is absolutely beyond comprehension that people here in Canada, or anywhere, seem to somehow think it can't happen to them and are not doing what is necessary.
