I like to face lather and I prefer a little more backbone with a little more 'scritch'
I think Boar is a little too much and most of the silvertip and best badgers are too soft for my liking.
I have a couple 24mm knots in a black badger from TGN.
The issue is my handles are 26mm.
The easiest answer is to get the right sized handle, but these are Wolf Whiskers and I like them. So I'm looking to fill a 1mm gap all around.
I am looking for suggestions.
First - Does anyone have a source for 26mm Black Badger knots? That would be ideal
Second - if I have to fill the gap, what material should I consider?
I have a metal lathe and make my own razor handles from time to time, and I make a lot of other things too. I was thinking of brass or copper, but I don't really like the way they look when oxidized and would prefer not to spray them as that hardly ever works. Carbon steels are out due to the water. Titanium is too expensive
That leaves anodized aluminum, stainless, or any one of a number of plastics.
Have any of you who re-knotted a brush handle did so with an under-sized diameter knot, and if so how did you address it?
Thanks in advance
