Razorock and their new Aluminum DE razor. Meet Mr. Lupo...

I'm going to unleash this thing on about 1 1/2 weeks of growth tonight, with a new nacet blade...we'll see how it does!

Question for those who have shaved with both the Lupo and the Mamba 70.
How does the Lupo compare in...

    1) Smoothness
    2) Efficiency
    3) Ease of shaving (since it is much lighter than the Mamba 70)

I plan to purchase the Mamba 70 when it is back in stock, since everyone says it is better than the original Mamba .53.  I am now interested in the Lupo, based on the reviews so far, since my sweetspot razor is typically in the .70 to .78 range (for a daily shaver).  My aggressiveness "limit" is the GC .84 OR a razor with less blade gap and more blade forward design like the Carbon CX (.68 gap and blade forward.  I reviewed the CX in June).

IMO, the Lupo is a hundred times better than the Mamba 70.

100% my experience as well. In fact, my Mamba 70 is pretty much religated to the drawer.

The Lupo is pretty amazing! Crazy how nice a shave you can get for $29.99!

I could swear I read somewhere that Joe did some sort of 3d scan to replicate the WR1 head exactly. I've spent the last 15 minutes searching for that post, to no avail.

Regardless, the razor is an impressive piece of equipment. Tonight, being it's Saturday, I'm doing Single Edge Saturday. Monday, I'll probably revisit the Lupo, especially now that I got the replacement head.

I was impressed, especially with the amount of growth I had...I've tried the mamba for a face shave with almost similar amount of growth, maybe a day or two less, and it wasn't nearly as efficient, imho..

I can't make my mind up with this Lupo after trying it over the last 2 weeks. It's priced right at $30 so it is affordable and Italian Barber has them available which is a plus compared to some of the smaller volume artisans. The blades are covered which I prefer but understand that many may not care. The 3 color selection may excite some but I am neutral here. The biggest issue is it is made of aluminum so it is super lightweight (about an oz or 30 gm) which makes it maneuverable but I need some pressure to cut to my liking. It is also a little on the mild side and seems to fit somewhere between the Razorock Mamba and Gamechanger 68 which are both heavier stainless steel bargains. Since I prefer more efficient razors I did use shims (3 which is my max ever) which improved the shave quality for me. So until the Lupo is made in a heavier metal or preferably titanium (my ideal weight) and a more aggressive gap I think it is at best a travel razor but will not be able to crack my rotation or top 5.

Razorock tend to make mild razors, they sell more. I’m yet to find an efficient Razorock....even the GC 0.84 isn’t that efficient IMO. Haven’t tried the OC but I’m fed up with buying Razorock and re-selling after 2 weeks

Found the post (by dmiller622 )... But it is confusing. Not certain if the guy was referring to The Razorock or another clone... So many varying topics in that thread.

His comment on a different handle, but the same head, is what I think lead me to believe it was about the lupo. Here's the link for you:
