Based on 20/20 hindsight, I recommend that IB checks each box prior to mailing the razors. They have superb customer service, so I am sure they will do right by you. Now you will have to wait a little longer to try it out. More time to dream about it.

Got a reply that it was a prototype for him to try out, without scallops. IMO, they cut off too much... Way too much.

End result is I have to wait for a new plate to be mailed and an envelope to return the "prototype".

Please keep the reviews coming folks... Need something to satiate me while I wait. Lol. [Image: 81df0a3b7987693c751754782310fa8b.jpg][Image: bf655ec97e97897ad9883b0d9075d4e5.jpg]

I would try it out while you wait for the new one! At the very least you could just use the unaltered side.

I reached out to Razorock... They said I could go ahead and use the head, they didn't need it back. So I'll get to test the Lupo after all, tonight. Yeah! Just need to be careful which side I use.

So I took the razor for a test this evening...

I used a Gillette 7 o'clock Black, first shave. For soap, I chose PAA dapper doc. A maggards 24mm synth and my big blue timeless bowl were used.

Hot water pre-soak... Mixed the soap up and lathered it on. Let it soak in for 10 minutes, then reapplied an extra wet lather.

Started my first pass with one cheek scallopped and one with the modified plate. The scalloped side shaved very close. I could feel the blade cutting and it was quite satisfying. The modified side was quite a bit more feel, harsher, but when I rinsed after pass one, no better in the results Dept. Thus, the rest of the shave was only with the scalloped end.

The post pass 1 feel certainly was closer than with my Rockwell on 2 or 3. This definitely is a step up in agression and efficiency from my daily driver.

Pass 2 (XTG) and 3 (ATG) were equally good. It picked up efficiency in the XTG pass. At the end, it was closer to a finished shave than I am used to and that pass was almost as smooth as the Rockwell.

On the ATG pass I could definitely feel the sensitivity on one part of my neck, my usual sensitive spots. It wasn't harsh enough to hinder the shave, and I ended a three pass shave with a good DFS.

As this was my first outing with the razor I stuck to 3 a done, no playing around. I am sure if I did a fourth pass (cleanup ATG), I could see my way to a BBS that should rival anything my Rockwell gives.

I hesitate to go any further. I want to do more shaves, first. In fact I may have presumed too much already. Still, if you ordered this razor, I think you'll be happy with the shaves regardless of what type of razor you are used to.

I find the Lupo is more effort for me than my
GC .84 oddly enough.

How does the Lupo compare in...

1) Smoothness
2) Efficiency
3) Ease of shaving (since it is much lighter than the Mamba 70)

I plan to purchase the Mamba 70 when it is back in stock, since everyone says it is better than the original Mamba .53. I am now interested in the Lupo, based on the reviews so far, since my sweetspot razor is typically in the .70 to .78 range (for a daily shaver). My aggressiveness "limit" is the GC .84 OR a razor with less blade gap and more blade forward design like the Carbon CX (.68 gap and blade forward. I reviewed the CX in June).
IMO, the Lupo is a hundred times better than the Mamba 70.

Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
EDRIO#96 RazoRock Lupo
Gillette Platinum
Epsilon White Horse (26mm, Frigate Class)
Stirling Glacial Lemony Orange soap and AS

First shave with the RR Lupo, the first thing that I noticed what that it has a huge window of available angle adjustment. I started off with too steep of and angle and the shave was a bit tuggy. This might not have been an issue with a sharper blade, but I've always felt that the Gillette Platinum was not quite as sharp as some of the other PPI offerings. Needless to say, once I adjusted to a shallower angle (ride the cap) the shave smoothed out tremendously. After two passes all I needed was a bit of touch up to bring the baby home. This razor is deceptively efficient. I wouldn't say that it is more then medium aggressive in terms of blade feel but in terms of efficiency it competes with the likes of the ATT H2 and Blackland Blackbird IMO and perhaps might even be more efficient then the Game Changer .84. I will be curious to see how this razor performs with other blades.

Another awesome shave with my half-a-lupo. Close, clean, and pretty comfortable. Really start to like this razor. It probably won't usurp my 6s, but it will definitely be a good alternate razor to shave with.

I'm liking this razor, the more I use it. I'd definitely get another one if they released this in SS or Ti.
