Jaguar 8095 R1 Basic blades are Stainless steel ice hardened…Platinum and Flourine-Carbon coated.
3 shaves I don’t see it..there must be something wrong..I’ll open up another pack…would be egg on my face if the first 5 blades were all luck…literally makes other blades toys, horrible blah…I had an old stash of personnas from the 80’s each blade gave me 20-30 shaves….nothing since has given me 4 good shaves, the new German personnas I got 8 shaves once and then again averaged 3 to 4 from the same pack.

I tried the Wizamet with the Lupo 95 OC the other day. It was my 4th shave with the Wizamet. I usually quit after 3 with all blades. I'm not sure if it was just the razor/blade combo or if maybe the wizard that is just not good on the fourth shave, but the shave didn't get me as close as I did with the ATT SSRH plate. The shave was smooth and comfortable, I thought I noticed a slight bit of drag at the beginning of the shave. RayClem what kind of longevity have you experienced with the Wizamet blades? I'm not sure if it was the razor and blade combo or just maybe it's best to throw the blade away after the third shave? I realize it could just perhaps not pair well with the Lupo 95.

Apparently there are now three Jaguar blades currently available. When I purchased my blades, the only blades listed on the Jaguar web site were identified as Jaguar 8094 blades to fit the R1 razor. These blades are listed only as stainless blade. There is no statement made anywhere about the coating on these blades. These blades were made in Egypt according to the packaging. The 8094 blades are the ones I used for evaluation.

Here is a photo of the R1 (8094) blades. These are standard DE razor blades.

More recently, the Jaguar web site is now listing two other razor blades, but they do not have the standard double edge blade cutouts. The Jaguar 3811 blade is designed to fit the Jaguar JT1, JT3 and Orca razors. There is also a Jaguar 3922 blade designed to fit the JT2, and Orca S razors. These two blades are said to be Platinum and Fluro-carbon coated and are also ice hardened. I do not know where these two blades were produced. However, the only ice hardened razor blades I have ever seen have come from Germany. Thus, I assume these blades do as well. These blades are significantly different from the 8094 blades  produced in Egypt.

Here are the photos of the 3811 and 3922 blades showing their significantly different cutouts. The Jaguar 3811 blade appears to be longer than a standard DE blade, perhaps similar to a Feather AC blade.

The JT2 blade has a much different cutout pattern than a DE blade, but I do not know if it will even fit a DE razor properly.

Thus, as far as I can tell, the only Jaguar blades designed to fit a standard DE razor are the R1 (8094) blades. I can find no evidence that these blades have anything other than a standard polymer coating.

The only time I have used a Wizamet blade is after beginning these evaluations. Thus, I have only used one for two shaves.   Because I have evaluated so many blades, I have not have not had time to determine the longevity of any blade other than the Jaguar 8094 I am now using.

When the series is completed,  I do want to see how many shaves I can get from the Wizamet. Because it has an Iridium coating, it should be more durable than many blades. However, I do not know how much more durable it might be than platinum, tungsten, and titanium as they are also much harder than steel.

I have not used either the Lupo 95 nor the ATT SSRH. I have seen some posts that indicate that the SSRH (not the Chinese made SSRH Pro) is slightly more efficient than the Timeless 0.95, which I have used. If you got three good shaves from the Wizamet paired with the Lupo 95, I certainly would not say that it does not pair well with that razor. However, The SSRH might be more efficient than the Lupo 95 and represent an even better pairing.. How many good shaves did you get from the Wizamet when paired with the SSRH? That might be an even better pairing.

I look forward to what you boys find. All our personal variables will be/are different, but a trend will shine through.

My findings with mild razors is 3 shaves for sure. 4 maybe. 5 no way.

I am pretty sure i can get 4 good shaves from BIC Chrome Platinum, 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (black) and Nacet Platinum. I might even be able to get 5.

While I like Nacet Stainless for 3 shaves, 4 is likely to be the max as they are not quite as smooth as the platinum blades above.

As for Wizamet, I would hope for 4 good shaves, but, like you, 5 might be too much.

Opened a fresh pack of jaguars and had the best shave of all time..first time I ever experienced the coating on a blade.3rd pass I could feel a difference, the first WTG and edit:..’XTG ‘ felt like going through molasses thick.hmmm.
Maybe this blade won’t go for long?..I wanna finish up the BIC first though.

Mr CLem when I was looking for these jaguars online I ended up on a german forum, maybe dutch?,,anyways some guy posted up photos of these blades and there must have been 50 different blades, and surgery scalpel blades,.my head spun and i left.

Did you order your latest ones from the Jaguar website? If so, please provide the link. Best blades I have ever used are both vintage. Personna Tungsten 74 and Gillette “Spoiler”. I ended up totally stocking up on both. eBay is great for vintage blades.

Monday Shave- Jaguar 8094 (Take 2) 4th and Final Use

Today, with one day of beard growth, I used the Jaguar 8094 blade for its 4th use. I performed my usual 4 pass shave. On the WTG pass, the shave proceeded normally. The blade was still sharp and reasonably comfortable. On the XTG pass. I started to feel some discomfort at several spots on my face. During the ATG pass, I got even more discomfort. I was debating whether to discontinue the shave after 3 passes with a socially acceptable shave, but decided to try to complete the 4th pass. Using buffing strokes I was able to achieve a DFS, but not the near-BBS shave I normally desire. I did not enjoy the clean-up pass. After the shave, when I applied witch hazel, I got significant feedback.

If I were to rate the blade on its 4th use, I would rate it 3.5 sharpness and 3 smoothness. That still places the blade higher than blades like the Kai, Derby Extra, Rockwell Swedish Steel on its 1st use. Some people like the shave they obtain with those blades, so perhaps they could still use the Jaguar 8094 for additional shaves. However, those blades are well below my standards for a great shave. Thus, I do not plan on using the Jaguar for any more shaves. For my beard and skin, for shaves is the maximum I can obtain.

While here might be more Jaguar blades available, I do not plan on trying them. The Jaguar USA web site https://www.jaguar.us.com/collections/blades only lists the R1/8094 blades. The Razor Blade Club in Sweden only lists the R1'8094 blades. RBC indicates the Jaguar blades are made in Germany and have a platinum coating, but they might be older blades. The ones I purchased in the USA indicated they were stainless blades made in Egypt. I do not plan to go to the effort of tracking down other blades in Europe. I have already evaluated a lot more blades than I originally intended.

This afternoon, I am supposed to receive some Chinese FlyDear blades. I am still waiting for the Gillette Super Thin Vietnam blades, so while waiting, I will try the FlyDear blades with 2 days of beard growth on Wednesday.

I picked them up at a barber-hair retail store in Toronto Canada…I have 14 packs,so if anyone wants these they’re at TBBS Dundas and Bay st…14 packs is 140 blades x’ say 40 conservative =5600 shaving days..PLENTY!
Personna 74’s sound familiar..also schicks in the red pack from the 90’s were good blades, back then all the blades were good, personnas were not the best but pretty nice.
