I can't seem to find an answer to the following... Are the two razors basically the same with just the addition of the lubricating strips on the R 18? Also, can the R 18 be used without the strips? I know they're out of business but I'm thinking of trying to find one. Is there a preference of one over the other?

From what I have heard, having an RS10 but never having tried an RS18, the RS10 is a bit gentler. RS10 also has two different heads. There are concerns about replacing the strips on the RS18 as well..

RS has mentioned they will have the strips available for a few years. If I owned an RS-18, I’d buy a lifetime supply now.

Both are tremendously smooth razors. The RS18 is closer to the aggressive baseplate on the RS10, which is still very smooth even with a Feather blade. Avi stated in his Email that he will continue to support the lubricating strips for several years. It is my understanding that the plastic does not degrade but the strips eventually loose their lubrication. You can order the inserts on Rawshaving.com by clicking on the RS18 and hitting the drop down button for strips only. Hope this helps.
