Got my Gibbs and after I disassembled it and cleaned it noticed these 2 things I would like to improve on it:

- The red ball on the adjustment knob is no longer there, anything from the local stores I can use to install on the empty gap. Its a miniature thing and no big deal but would be nice if I can find replacement of some sort.

- I cleaned up all the razor parts but I'm noticing rust on the spring, would like to know if I can find matching spring from the local stores.

Anyone that had done this sort of changes on the their Gibbs appreciate if you can pitch in, thanks

I used a red pin head on one of my Gibbs, works perfectly.

Don’t dare replace that spring. Take it from me - hard to come by. Clean off rust but don’t discard.

thanks for the heads up, I actually did cleaned it up and made it shiny last night just in case I cant find spring. I was going to look around for and take the original one for the sake of comparison but if you say that it is very hard to find matching one then I'll just wont even bother looking for one, will get the pin bobbins though.

EDIT: I think we found matching spring. Someone from the French forums bought some from ebay China seller and it works well, 304 SS material, https://www.ebay.com/itm/0-8mmx10mmx15mm...Sw8AhaR0Gx

after you 2 posted I went to check on the link of the springs I posted, looks like quite few peeps saw this thread and jumped on those springs.... When I opened the link only 1 was left so I ended up purchasing it also.

Yesterday the punch chisel arrived and I modified few blades after running few for the sake of testing and getting hang of the punch chisel. I have to say the Gibbs is a one fine instrument that shaves very good and is of good quality. Shaved on N (neutral) and its on par aggression as Rockwell on plate 6, I imagine this thing entering R41 area of aggressiveness when dialed on #6.

I got mine for $50, but as of lately I see them go upwards $150+ on ebay and that's worldwide speaking. I have no clue why are they increasing in price, either sellers pushing price narrative or buyers shopping addiction at its finest.

Aggressiveness is subjective but as a Rockwell plate 6 user I'll observe I never crank up the Gibbs beyond a middle setting, just don't see the need.
