Hello, everyone!
I am new to the site and excited to be here.
I started DE shaving about 4 years back. After using a Gillette Old Type with mediocre blades, a microtouch from Ross Dress for Less, William's Mug Soap and a scraggly boar brush, I ran screaming back to cartridge razors for a few years! Terrible shaves for quite a while.
Now I am giving it another shot, properly this time. I've got a Gillette New long comb, a tech, a SS Red Tip and a mint condition Slim Adjuatable and I am having much better luck.
I am having some issues with the soap though. I like Clubman, Van Der Hagen isn't bad. I sank about 20 bucks into Proraso White pre shave and shave soap and it just isn't working for me. I get irritation pretty much every time I use it. I understand that it is a near universally respected as a classic product line. But for me the slickness is barely there. Honestly it seems about on par with Gillette Foam in a can.
Am I missing something here? I put some glycerine in it but the friction is barely mitigated. I have tried adding more water. Nothing is working.
I put a bit of money into the Proraso so I can't bring myself to chuck it. Any thoughts?
Thanks
