Progress (and a near-perfect shave)!

That's when it's time to pick up a new type. If you don't feel like you can improve your technique an appreciable amount anymore, a different kind of tool, a different kind of shave, and a different set of skills to develop. Chase another dragon! lol

I thought about straights for all of 5 seconds. If I wanted to get into them that means I would want to do and learn everything myself including setting an egde/honing, etc. I'm weird that way. That is just too much money I can spend elsewhere. DEs/SEs are going to have to do.

I didn't, I looked at one for a couple of milliseconds & went & hid under the bed.  

(My hands are not steady. No way am I ever putting a naked blade up against my face).

Congrats! Lather quality makes all the difference in the world. Take a look at Nathan's method of generating lather if you have not already.

I would also add that, particularly early on, sometimes you revisit a product that you didn't like only to absolutely love it. The 102 is a nice slant that can provide great shaves. Rather than take a hit on the sale, may want to shelve it for a while and come back to it later. If you still don't connect, then drop it like a bad habit!

I'd thought of that, and I did get some extremely close shaves with the razor, but the honest truth is that I just didn't like it. Didn't like the heaviness, found the length awkward.

Although there's a thought. I did try the head for a while on my Kelvin handle, liked that better, although the burn was still an issue. Maybe I should just sell the Bulldog handle & keep the head...

Also, if you are looking for an aluminum handle make want to check out Windrose as well. The ALB and ALD are aircraft aluminum, chrome plated.

Aaaaaaargh! Those look like exactly what I'm looking for, but they're sold out of aluminum!  

...and not expecting to make any more in the near future.

Apologies for the head fake... I exchanged some notes with Andrew and understand that he is working on both a wider assortment of handles as well as a Windrose razor head. I believe he'll jump in here at DFS once he has the details ironed out to tell us more.
