Pre Order Blackland Razor

So who has pre ordered their Blackland Razor?

I have done, which I am very excited about. I went for the short handle machined version although I was very tempted by the black oxide version and the polished!

Hi Oli, I already have the machined V1 but am very curious about the V2 with rounded corners etc. and look forward to your thoughts. V1 is a very solid shaver and I imagine V2 will add that extra little bit of efficiency to take it to the next level.

I did get both handles and personally very much prefer the short one- very maneuverable and nice balanced feel.

That polished finish sure does look sweet though! Congrats and enjoy.

I've ordered the long handle polished finish version,
have a lot of faith in Shane as he is very proactive in his approach

The rounded corners makes the Bird a totally different animal. The Bird with the sharp corners has very little manuverability a good razor, not worth the money, nothing to write home about and i would sell it in a week and be happy to get some money back. The rounded corners changes the birds shaving ability to the tenth degree and makes the Bird an excellent razor, without question a keeper. Also the polished Bird takes away all the drag the other two models have (i modified the Bird corners and a polish) This is just my opinion, YMMV.

Pre - ordering seems to be the new thing but I am not a supporter of it. The buyer should be in control since it's our dime.

I had pre-ordered the Machined and Black Oxide versions each with both handles before they were released. Didn't care too much for the black oxide version and sold them. Right now, my machined V1 is back with Shane to get polished and the muted corners/edges.

Pre - ordering seems to be the new thing but I am not a supporter of it. The buyer should be in control since it's our dime.

It is also a way to make items like the Blackbird available to us. If it helps to make a project feasible that otherwise would have to be shelved or delayed, I am all for it. Or, what if he misjudges interest by a factor of two, and eats enough stock to close his doors? I am all for it, especially when you have a vendor like Shane, who I have seen take returns, give refunds, allow buyers to change options during the pre-buy period, and generally be available every step of the way.

Of course with an untested manufacturer, there is a certain caveat emptor, but I am still a supporter of the practice in general for our little artisan explosion.

Most artisans/manufacturers/vendors don't ask for money in advance. A perfect example is Greg @ iKon. He designs,manufacturers and sells using his own capital. And there are thousands more like him. However, I see your point and that is okay.

hmm did the price on the polished go up? i could have sworn it was less then 30$ last i checked. not a huge difference but making sure im not crazy

Yes it did it was $20 before
