Polish or Leave as is?

I've got this Reverse-stud Gillette Goodwill head that I found at a flea market. It came with an aluminum Soviet-era Czech "Soluna" handle.

I really hate the handle and always swap it out for the handle from an LC New when I shave with it. Then put them back.

I'm planning to buy a repro ball-end handle (the polished brass option) from Razor Emporium.


So, can anybody provide a compelling argument against me polishing up the top, sides, and ends of the base plate and cap down to the bare brass to better match the new handle?
I'm not at all interested in preserving what's left of the finish for its value as a collectible. This is a nice user-grade razor head.

It even has all of its original teeth in good condition, which is not something I can claim for my own head.

No original handle and plating mostly gone. There is very little to no collector value left.

You must do whatever makes you happy to use the razor - that is the only right answer.

Definitely polish if you're getting a new handle.

I'm assuming that you enjoy the shave it gives you in which case I'd say polish it up, re-plate or do whatever you like to make it a pleasant experience to shave with.  As it looks now it would be like shaving with a rusty old garden tool
