Men's Soap Company counterfeits sold on Alibaba: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/S...34147.html

We were sent this link today by a customer. Though we are flattered, this isn't new for us, unfortunately. It's frustrating to see all of our hard work faked so easily and we don't have the legal capacity as a small business to fight it all. Even the large tech giants can't stop China's ZTE from stealing US tech and brands. Hence, formally filing complaints on Alibaba doesn't fix the issue, as the vendor simply opens up another storefront with fake certs.

This types of finding personally bother us because we put our own hard earned money and sweat into making and testing the soap formula, packaging one soap at a time in our basement at the start. It is infuriating to be honest because I'm sitting at my desk working on packaging design for our next product and I can only imagine some Chinese vendor can simply steal it and put it on Alibaba for which we have no recourse because... China.

Have you ever been to a China Town and come across counterfeits? Surely, you would figure it's real because the packaging looks very real, then later realize the quality is not what you're expecting. If there is any consolation, at least we know they can't replicate our formula. If you feel so inclined, buy from the Chinese vendor and test against ours. We're very confident you'll quickly trash the counterfeit Smile

If you have any questions or suggestions, we'd be happy to discuss them.

Thanks,
Omar

Very sorry to read about this and see that page, Omar MensSoapCo. I can’t even imagine how frustrating the situation must be. But among other things, I can imagine that if anyone buys an inferior copy of your original product, they will then be under the impression that your brand isn’t very good…

If only all the effort and energy that goes into shady nonsense like this could be directed toward something more useful.

Thanks for the heads up. We’re not a massive forum, but I hope word spreads.

We're doing our best to spread the word and maintain our reputation. Your words certainly help our effort. Thank you!

So sorry. I personally am very careful NOT to help others trammel on the original makers intellectual property. I don’t like clones or knock-offs and it’s we consumers that push on the gas. If you want to clone an item that has been unavailable for years, go for it. If you want to offer a cheaper version of someone else’s sweat, you will get no support from me.

Just the way the price is shown (U.S. $3-9.9) would have me suspicious.  I have never ordered from Alibaba, though I have heard of them.  Needless to say, there is simply no reason to purchase from them when I see something like this.  I have had the good fortune to meet a few of the artisans here at DFS who make some of the products I use and when one hears their stories, both the ups and downs, suddenly a face is put to the product.  I don’t want these people to suffer because someone is all but giving away a phony product.  I was visiting with hawns of Chatillon Lux on Wednesday and listening to his enthusiasm for what he does makes the scents I have bought from him that much more special.  You simply cannot get that from a deliberately ripped off product.

Omar, I sincerely hope that this type of chicanery is infinitesimal to your business and that, somehow, it can be stopped.

That is brutal. I can't even imagine how awful it must feel to work so hard and see someone do that.

Ugh, that sucks. IMO, nearly everything on that site is suspect.

You'd think $3-9 would be questionable enough to not trust counterfeit posts, yet we've had customers question our legitimacy. We don't mind defending our reputation but it does boggle the mind that we have no recourse. I kid you not, the legal advice we've received thus far is "You're sh*t out of luck!" ... Hard to accept.
