That was not the purpose of the AMA.  If you have a legitimate complaint then, by all means, get in touch with Douglas via PM or e-mail.  However, deliberately  putting up a post like yours is uncalled for, very often leads to name calling and mud slinging, and usually ends with a thread being closed.

Hi Wet Shavers,
You bring up a good point, I would like to participate more, I just have a hard time getting the chance to. Video has proven to be a medium that works the best for me at this time. I would like to clear up something however, I don't spam my podcast...I don't even currently have a podcast. I do post my weekly videos in the "Video" section, thus not making them spam. Sorry for the confusion my friend and thank you for participating!

Dear God (!) I almost missed this one! Sorry Mat....what you saw was something I was experimenting with and may very well offer...BUT, I thought it would be cool to do a tutorial on the process and how folks could distress their own razors, and save a couple bucks. The vid is done and will be out soon! Sorry again for almost missing this one!

No worries! I didn’t bring up the matter again, as I thought perhaps you wanted to keep something under wraps (or else an experiment went horribly wrong). Smile

The video sounds interesting, and I’ll be looking forward to it! Thanks for your response.

Douglas,

If video is the medium that works best for you and your fans then by all means keep on doing it. It's not rare for a busy artisan who is not active in a community to drop-in and participate for a day or two through an AMA, so for that I shouldn't be complaining. I will admit that I've heard some negative opinions about you from other wet shaving sources. With that said, as a vegan soap user I very much appreciate your answer to why you don't make tallow soaps, and I respect that you do not plan to back down to those who perpetuate the myth of tallow superiority. I also appreciate your answer regarding limited editions. I will say reading this AMA provided me with a different perspective compared to what I have heard.

Hello again Wet_Shavers,
Thanks for your reply, Fran and I appreciate it! Admittedly I did make some really dumb mistakes in our infancy. Some of what you have heard is possibly true, and some false. Regardless, we learned many a valuable lesson from the whole experience and strive to be better with every new day. Thanks again for participating in this thread and take care my friend!

You have brought to life one of my favorite scents in shaving, Cavendish, and seeing the size of your product catalog, there are surely several others just waiting to be found. (Some I have already discovered through your marvelous aftershave samples: Al Fin, Dapper Doc’s, High Jump 47, Gondolier, Miami Libre, Tokyo Rose… And, thanks to this thread, I’ll have to try Agharta and La Tierra Mojada.)

My first question to you:
The Petal Pusher Fancies soap Neroli has been brought up a few times here on DFS in the past few months, especially because it apparently is a beautiful scent with great projection. Douglas, you already mentioned Neroli in a list of discontinued scents. Any chance it’ll make a comeback in the future, for at least a time?

Second:
A while ago, you posted an aged nickel Prismatic on your Instagram feed. Was that just a single prototype, or will it be entering production at some point?

Thanks for spending time with us on DFS today, and Fran, glad to have you here as a new member!

OK....finally! Thanks to you Matsilainen, Neroli is back, now under the name Planet 9! Hope you saw this in the deals section. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention and please don't hesitate to pm or email me anytime if there's anything else the folks would like to see or would like brought back.

Sincerely
Douglas

Douglas CaD314, I saw the video where you treated the razor to give it the aged look, and now a new version of that classic Neroli is out — in full force, no less, with the jelly, mug, and t-shirts in addition to the soap and splash. I don’t know when you rest and how you do it all, but thanks from our community and all the best to you and Fran!
