Hello Gentlemen,
Maybe this isn’t a revelation to everyone…
Recently, my friend Dan Law turned me on to the Personna Med Prep blades.
I have been a user of Personna Lab Blues and was pleasantly surprised after using the Med Prep blades.
I have no idea what the actual differences are, but so far, maybe the best shaves consistently that I’ve had.

After searching the interwebs to find 100 Personna Med Preps, I emailed Accutec that seemed to be the manufacturer of the rebranded version.
YES…the Accuthrive medical double edge blades are the Personna’s in a different box.
Why don’t any shaving shops sell these blades??
I had to buy them from a medical supply website…

“Good Morning Peter,
Thank you for asking and yes, you are correct.
The AccuThrive medical double edge blades are the Personna blades rebranded.

Best,
Greta Cuyler
Marketing Communications Manager”

Shave Nation and Razor Blade Company have them as well as Amazon but they're all proud of them.

I only paid a couple $ more than Amazon.
These are NOT cheap blades.
Apparently the Accutec boys and girls have found a market without concern for costs…

Accutec Blades in Verona, VA was originally the industrial supply American Razor Company. After ownership of the company changed hands several times, it was purchased by Edgewell Personal Care. Since their focus was personal care and not industrial supply, the division in Verona was spun off as Accutec Blades. The intent of Acutec was always to supply blades in large quantities of DE blades to hospitals and laboratories. However, they also make single edge blades for paint scrapers, replaceable blade utility knives and hobby knives, tailors, carpetmakers and installers, etc. They also made blades for barber/spa use in hair shapers and shavette razors.

The shaving community figured out that the "for laboratory use" and "for hospital use" blades were suitable for shaving. Accutec sold these blades in minimum quantities of 100. Since the DE blades were packaged in tucks, enterprising vendors could break up a bulk pack and sell individual tucks. I guess Acutec is trying to separate its industrial use and medical use technologies by rebranding the medical and laboratory products under the AccuThrive brand.
While the shaving community is interested in the double edge blades, doctors and hospitals are more interested in scalpel blades, microtomes, and dermaplanes, etc.

The blade we have referred to as Med Prep is now called AccuThrive AVBL-3001-0000. It has a MicroCoat and is marked "For hospital use:.

The blade we have referred to as Lab Blue might become one of two blades. One is the Personna Super 60-0146-NUPC. The other is the AccuForge Double Edge with Microcoat AGBL-6000-0000. I cannot find any reference to "comfort coated". The Personna Super does not claim the MicroCoat technology. It is the one listed for barber use.
