I've used them plenty of times.

They seem to actually get sharper in the second week. Then level off in the third week. Eventually after about four and a half weeks they just give up the ghost.

The thing is it's boring. No change. I kind of like using a different blade once a week.

The other issue I had was that they tail off so gradually that by the time I use a fresh blade I have ruined my normal technique. Like using too much pressure and not being careful. Then a fresh blade feels kind of harsh by comparison but not normally so. It's just that the P74 lasted so long and got less effective little by little that I got off my game.

They are incredible blades. Even if they are a little boring.

I couldnt agree more Todd. There is a plateau and the death spiral is so slow and gradual, you can hardly tell when they have give up the ghost. I have had to actually change out a blade because I didnt mark on the calendar when I dropped in a new blade. And yes, if you dont mark your calendar, you WILL lose track. I would like to add to this thread, if you can source some vintage "Super Platinum Chrome", many, including myself, believe these were reboxed, P74s sold in the slider dispenser. The belief is that remaining P74 stock were sold in SPC packaging, and the sharp eyed vintage hunter can find a great deal and have a super shave without breaking the bank.

But anytime you can find P74s for less than 2 bucks a blade, thats a deal.

I've used 3 P74's in the past year with two I decided time for a change of pace when both had 22 shaves on them and still very sharp. This last one has 20 shaves and still going strong and if the Bunny Injector had not come my way five days ago I would still be using it. After my test run with the Bunny I will going back to the P74 to see how many shaves I actually can get from a single blade. So for me, well worth the price of admission.

Let us know how you fair Joseph.

So... How'd it go?

I jumped on the opportunity too.

Packs arrived well packed. The lubricants between the blades dried up and got a bit tacky so I had to pry the first blade out with a small precision screwdriver, bit go it out ok..

Didn't notice any rust on the blade.

First shave was very smooth in my already smooth bbs1. Smother than med prep or a Russian 7 O'Clock blue. I will try the blade in a lesser razor next to see how it does.

I hope they last as long as people say....

For me they have been able to last easily a month. More if I want to push it but I usually don't as I want to move to a fresh blade.

I'm on my 3rd blade since I got it last year and will be using it once more for this year.

First use : 1st month I buy
Second use: birthday month last year
Third use: I just served my one month notice to resign recently and it will be completed in 7 days time
Forth use: birthday month this year.

I had some opened packs and some still in their blister pack. Counted to 140 blades which are probably too much since I don't believe I will use more than 2 a year and I will be 29 this year.

Shave #1 went very well. I had a difficult time removing the blade as well. Today is shave #2; I am pairing the Personna 74 with my Gillette President.

Try a hair dryer if they're stuck in the dispenser.

Warm them up a bit and they should slide out easily.
