There is a listing right now for lots of 20 Personna 74 DE blades for $29.99 shipped on the auction site. If the blades are in good condition - not corroded or rusted - then it's quite a good deal. Often they sell for $3-5 per blade or higher. If I didn't already have plenty of blades I probably would grab some of these.

How is $30 for 20 blades a good deal? Whats so special about these blades? Can you get like 20-30 shaves per blade? The most durable and long lasting blade that I have shave with is the GSB and they last 6 shaves per blade. Just curious what so special about the Personna 74

Not just a great deal. It's an excellent deal. These blades are considered some of the best ever produced. They last dozens of shaves with no problem.

A simple search on the internet and especially the shaving forums will reveal you why they're so special according to most of the wet shavers that had the luck to try them.

Why don't Personna still produce them? I mean after all they have the formula how to make these blades?

From what I've read, many companies sued them back then. As we can all understand, a blade so durable is bad for business. They stopped their production after a few years. That's why is very hard to find them.

Anyway, it's a very good deal. If they were sealed, their value would be much better, especially for the collectors.

What I read is that they made them to take on Gillette but customers were getting months out of a single blade so they stopped making them because it was bad for sales. However, that doesn't make much sense. Why would you make the longest lasting blade and then stop after realizing how long it lasts.

Innovation. Maybe.

Also, the cost of production must have played a role on this. But all these are just speculations.

That's sad, I mean if they have the formula and they are that good, they can probably sell them at $50 per 100 pack and pretty much they will take over the blades market, I don't think other company has the right to sue you just because you've put out a great and long lasting product.
