Parker SoloEdge

Used it once on 4 days of growth with a brand new Nacet.
It felt tuggier and less efficient than the Twig, which was surprising. Still, didn't get the irritation I expected just from how the shave felt.
Overall a bit disappointing tbh.

You might find the Nacet Stainless to be slightly sharper on the 2nd shave than on the first. If it still is not sharp enough, you might try a BIC Chrome Platinum, Permasharp Super or a Treet Durasharp. In my evaluations, they are some of the few DE blades that are sharper than Nacet. I am still evaluating blades and will soon evaluate the Gillette Super Nacet Platinum blade made in China. 

Yeah, I'm aware that most blades (Feathers excl!) sharpen up on the 2nd shave, but the Nacet is the one I use the most so I'm very familiar with how well it typically performs on the first shave.
I have the blades you mentioned, simply haven't gotten around to sampling all of them yet (Permasharp is nice, BIC CP was a disaster!) 

4 days of growth probably required a heavier DE. Even a Twig would struggle with that volume.

But…YMMV

Granted I have heavier than average growth and it's been quite a while since I used the Twig on +4 days of growth, so I might misremember, but I'm pretty certain it handles it better.
I'll get around to it eventually, but either way after that first outing I have little desire to try the SoloEdge again anytime soon. Between the two I'd rather use the Twig for the next shave (and it's not even my favorite SE razor).

At least with my beard and skin, there is a huge difference in the performance of Feather Hi Stainless and Astra Superior Platinum blades. While I have not tried Astra SP blades in a Single Edge razor, they have never worked in any DE razor I have tried them in. They just are not sharp enough for me. 

If Astra SP blades are sharp enough for your beard and head, why would you use the far more expensive Feather blades? 

When my SoloEdge arrives, I plan to try it with PermaSharp half blades.

To answer your question. The first blade I tried in the Parker was a Feather. The shaves went well , extremely close. One , I shave every day. Second, I take a blood thinner. So although, I can shave with the Feathers I prefer the Astra. Price of the blade is not a concern for me. As you know you with this hobby there’s no one thing that suits everyone. If I ever shave against the grain? I’ll be in trouble! I do have some other blades on hand to experiment with. I plan on trying the Parker blades that came with the razor. My overall impression of the Solo is positive.

I ordered a Parker SoloEdge from Razor Emporium as both SuperSafety Razors and The Razor Company were out of stock. The razor arrived this afternoon. Razor Emporium is now out of stock as well. I think Shave Nation might still have some. The advantage of purchasing from Shave Nation is that GeoFatboy includes a sampler of several half blades so you can find your preference. SuperSafety razors includes a pack of Parker half-DE blades with their order. Razor Emporium included the razor only. Fortunately, I have some Permasharp half blades.

Because I am still in the midst of my series on DE blade evaluations, it will be a couple of weeks before I shave with the SoloEdge, but I wanted to post a few first impressions.

1. When you pick up the razor, it is surprisingly heavy with a weight of 94g. It looks and feels like a satin stainless steel razor, but the handle is satin chrome plated brass and the head is satin chrome plated alloy.

2. Because I have large hands, I wish the handle had been hollow and larger in diameter. For those with normal size hands, it should be fine.

3. I saw one post about the razor that says it is head-heavy, but because the head is an plated allow, I do not find that to be the case. The balance point is about 1" below the bottom plate, which is where I expect it to be.

4. The fit and finish of the razor seem excellent.. Although it is not a CNC machined razor, it could pass for one. For a plated razor, the tolerances are tight.

5. I saw one post on another forum where the user indicated there was too much drag on the face. However, the list of shaving soaps he provided were all soaps that I rate as lower tier. There should be no problem with drag if you choose a high quality soap.

6. Although Schick style injector blades and DE blades have a similar edge length, the injector blades will not align properly in the razor. Either precut half blades or a DE blade snapped half can be used. The blade is clamped tightly in the razor head with no alignment issue, but I would suggest checking the alignment visually before starting your shave.

I will post again once I have an opportunity to evaluate the performance of the razor.

I hear really good feedback on this razor. I look forward to trying it one day.

I’m feel a little cheated. I bought early and don’t have the magnet now offered. It’s definitely clunkier than the Twig and Thorn. Those 1/2 blades are tiny.

The regular Parker Solo Edge SB is so good I hadn't even considered if they came out with an open comb.  They should just take my money now.  I hope they do this.
