There's going to be another release of 17-4 with bigger handle, a different heat treatment, and a few other minor tweaks. I'm looking to increase efficiency while keeping it as smooth or smoother. Not sure yet about timetable for release, but design is already in process.

I won’t miss out on this one.

Can’t WAIT for that one! The only aspect that kept me from getting one of the originals was the short handle and people complaint about the fact that most secondary handles would not work on the threads. Glad you are releasing another one!

I really believe my beard is getting thicker and more coarse as I get older. I have not been able to get a great close shave with this SE. I want to give the Feather Supers another try.

The Feather Pros and Schick Prolines aren't cutting it for me in this razor. It's a very beautiful and smooth razor. It's just not that efficient to me IMO. My beard grows crazy fast after shaving with this razor. I have a lot of stubble growing back only 5 hours later.

I had the same problem with the Colonial General SS, RR Hawk V2, and Ikon MR-SE.

The Feather super pros really made a difference but doing 2 passes ATG worked well for me with the Proline

Love my SE but I’ve got some super pros coming that I hope can increase my first pass efficiency. After the first pass this thing is butter but I’m always shaving on 3/4 day growth.

It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...

I sort of was in the same situation that you were in, especially using the Kai and Schick Blades. The shaves were smooth and supremely comfortable but, I felt like I wasn’t getting the close, efficient shaves that I normally get with some of my other SE’s. I gave the ATG passes a go and that helped quite a bit but, still suffered in shave quality and longevity. I was getting a great feeling shave but, within 5-6 hours was getting a real early shadow and within 8 hours a full shadowed stubble was in the works. I was dumbfounded to be honest. So, I pulled out my Ace in the hole, the Pro Super and it changed the game up for me. 2 passes against the grain for 2 straights shaves in a row. Almost 12 hours of nearly BBS face feel on shave 1 and almost 14 on shave 2. I also changed my technique a bit and thought GEM razor like because of the more acute bevel and edge on the Pro Sup’s. Not full flat against my face like a traditional GEM razor would need to be but, more like half to 2/3rd’s of the cap touching my face. It worked and it was incredibly smooth and Uber efficient. Not saying it will solve your issue but, it might be worth a shot trying. Good luck....

This is the kinda reply that drives people crazy but go with me on this......

So I absolutely love the paradigm Ti2. I was lucky enough to get one when my buddy flipped it for being too mild.

When I first shaved with it I agreed with his assessment and found the shave smooth and ineffective. But I loved the ergonomics and the stroke of the razor on the face. So I kept at and I dialled in the razor by very subtle micro muscle memory adjustment.

I am not saying your technique is bad or anything. What I am saying is you could try a month of shaves to really dial in the razor.

For some this wouldn’t be worth the hassle or money. But perhaps the Gem style angle, lack of blade feel and butter smooth face stroke are taking a little adjustment as I went through with the Ti 2?
