Living on the edge
I could live with a lot of things but the handles are a radical departure from the paradigm house. style...all you have to do is keep those facets and
put some new motif on it....whether it's Byzantine or Moroccan. Why change the handle aesthetic? The new handles look very industrial and soul-less
to me.

dtownvino has a great point above.  I’ll offer mine….

If you use a badger knot, chances are that hair was harvested somewhere in China.  Rarely is badger hair harvested in Texas.  I personally love the products put out by Oumo…. Carry and his wife Anne are wonderful people and they in fact ARE in China.  I have an iPhone 14 pro max and an iPad Pro.  So YES, I do in fact patronise business straight out of China. I love Chinese Food, but that’s a different thread….

Will the razor be a flop? I just asked my Magic 8 Ball and it said…. “You’re only as good as your last razor, don’t rest on past accomplishments.”  Hey, don’t kill the messenger, see the folks at Mattel if you have a problem with that answer.

What do YOU think? Do YOU like the way it looks? Is it something that interests you or will you wait for the reviews?

I’m going to purchase the razor because I don’t give a rats arse what anyone else does, I’m doin’ ME.  I’m the guy who has to get up tomorrow and go down to Pharaoh’s Slave Pit and work for my shekels. I want to see what Andrew is made of NOW and I will give a very fair review.  If I like it, I’ll praise it and say it’s good.  If it sucks, I’ll tell you it sucks just like the first 2 he made and the fifth one.  Only this round is he really making the razor or is he the Project Manager? For me, doesn’t matter, it’s going to carry the Paradigm name, it better live up to that standard….Cheers

Well, now you brought up two points near my passion.  The iPhone - the major parts of this are not made in China.  Design and approval of the major components in California.  The screen (OLED) manufactured in Vietnam by Samsung or LG.  The processors made by TSMC in Taiwan.  The haptic sensor (that vibrates) made in the Philippines by Microchip. That beautiful camera, Sony in Japan. It is true it is assembled in China.

It is not that I have a problem with China.  In fact, I have lasting relationships with my former employees and the Chinese market.  But the suppliers we used, turning metal for precise projects such as laser alignment, fixtures for inspecting optical components, even making sure small holes were tapped to a minimum depth so a robot wouldn’t destroy the item by jamming a one time screw into an untapped hole, this took multiple tries, tight oversight, large scrapped lots, and final finish products didn’t always have the “finish” you got from North American, European, Japanese, Korean, Singaporean, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Indonesian, etc for quality.

It would have been extremely difficult to be an American to oversee a project like this since COVID.  I also don’t like the handle (it looks like a Wolfman but not a Wolfman) and the finish isn’t calling me.

In the end, Paradigm stood for a quality razor with unique design and aesthetics to me.  This looks like a mass market play, it is brand confusing, and is just not appealing to me or in my wheelhouse.

I wish him the best with it. I think the Game Changer is priced right and a lot more compelling to me if I was in to get a razor like this. I believe that the GC is less than half of the price and the finish looks nicer to me while being made in Ontario, Canada. Local manufacturing where IB can oversee production runs and talk through any challenges is very appealing to me.

Mike  you know I’m the Devil’s Advocate. I try to MAKE people think, another lost concept.  Like American manufacturing, thinking isn’t really done.  Americans don’t make anything anymore, they’re purchasers of “stuff.”

I can write all about the implications of purchasing Chinese Goods, you and I know what they are. What happens when you take your wonderful designs, quality product and teach someone WHO ISN’T a good global neighbour what you know how to do? High Volume, Low Margins, High Profits and probably an inferior product. For the sake of the discussion, let’s get the razor in one of our hands.  I’ll take the plunge on the buck and change.  Andrews Pdime DE v1 Ti was 395 usd in 2017, this is a fact.  Conservatively that puts the 395 at $486 USD today.  You think these lads are spending 486-700 on a “Made in MURICA razor?” Where did the material come from? Packaging?

You know how it goes on these very public global forums.  Folks offend very easily. I don’t edit and I don’t delete.    You Republican?  you’re a bigoted hating racist, You Democrat? you’re a bleeding heart liberal nimby.  True or False? It’s the Golden Age of Fraud my guy, embrace the suck.  People will sell out their Parents for a luxury handbag.

Thank You for making me think today… I’m currently walking around my home putting post-its on what was made where, lol.

Only edits I make are grammatical because the phone auto corrects and I watch my fingers and not the words ?.

Here is what it comes down to for me.  I like well thought out, executed products, with smart engineering and solid fit and finish.  Tatara, Blackland, Wolfman, Chiseled Face, Carbon, etc.

What I look at is this is a rebranding whether intentional or not and it’s a shift away from what attracted me to the brand initially.

This was very interesting to me, this is a maker that lives in the same State as I do. I also happen to own several of his knives, and I carry one while on duty.

YESSSSSS T28, YES!

One would think a BRAND would want its preservation of style EVEN if the rights to your previous designs were co-owned by another!  Thank You.  Byzantine Art specifically of the Constantinople Period paved its path all the way to the Italian Renaissance.  I know it’s only a handle, but it’s an expression of YOUR BRAND!

Chevrons, Rosetta’s, pull “something” from looking at a mosaic ceiling! Think Istanbul, Think Fes/Fez!….foliage, frets, waves, geometric designs, guilloches, lozenges, rosettes

Branding Branding, Branding…. The SOUL of your work

My implication of edit is simple….. my thoughts today might not be my thoughts tomorrow if missiles are raining down on my home.  Specifically, my original thoughts could have been offensive and unreasonable but now I’ve grown and evolved.  I want to share both points it’s how I learn. Actually me personally…. I fumble double the amount of normal ppl, lol.

The brands you listed cannot be mistaken for another!

You need a Blackbird and a Timeless in there.   And an H&S.  Karve?  Your mission is not completed.
