As Fedsbackhand mentioned with a visual from Andrew in an earlier post; “the Salient could be the beginning of additional razors moving forward.”

Like almost everyone, I’d love to see a return to classic Paradigm design finishes etc.  The geometry of Pdime razors have always been spot on with exceptionally tight tolerances.  CNC machining no matter where it occurs is only the first step….. I’m assuming each razor has to be inspected by hand making sure quality has been achieved?  The matte finish is a different direction for sure as is design.

Keeping in mind Andrew has had business partners in the past and it’s quite possible his business partners could have some rights to those past designs, idk.  At any rate, it’s great to see Andrew trying his best to release something at a time where businesses in this shaving arena are folding like a bad hand of cards. Like HOLYZEUS said; I hope there’s plenty of stock to support the demand.  A new razor is always fun and supporting these Artisans is how their doors stay open….

Design of the handle kinda reminds me of the “Charcoal Goods inspired West Coast Shaving offerings” a few years back does it not? The Hyperion and El Capitain were my favs of the bunch.

Unlike many on this forum, I’ve spent extensive time in China (in fact most of Asia) building up subsidiaries as well as helping to manufacture high tech products.  For me, it’s a strong pass.  I never bought a Yaqi razor either.  It is a significant decline in brand recognition.  Only my opinion, but I only spend my money not anyone else’s.

I too enjoy the El Capitan.  It's a very ergonomic design.

In my brief conversation with Andrew I asked him how this new razor compares to all of his past razors in efficiency and I highlighted both the Paradigm Ti.1 which has always been recognized as the most efficient/ aggressive / effective razor he’s made and I also included the Diamondback 2020 which for me is nicely efficient and very smooth. His response was the new razor has a bit of blade feel and not very aggressive. That was all he said and he added that once in a while he takes out his Ti 1 and added very efficient.

I don’t care if it’s the best shaver in the world, for this reason alone I won’t be buying one. I would rather save up and pay double for a Razor that’s made in the US. That was one of the reasons I’ve purchased Paradigm Razors in the past, they were designed and made in the US. As you stated, this is only my opinion and I too only spend my money and not anyone else’s.

So is this gonna be a flop? Lots of dislikes about this razor and it’s not released yet. Handle, finish, and made in China, is anyone planning on buying this?

dtownvino has a great point above.  I’ll offer mine….

If you use a badger knot, chances are that hair was harvested somewhere in China.  Rarely is badger hair harvested in Texas.  I personally love the products put out by Oumo…. Carry and his wife Anne are wonderful people and they in fact ARE in China.  I have an iPhone 14 pro max and an iPad Pro.  So YES, I do in fact patronise business straight out of China. I love Chinese Food, but that’s a different thread….

Will the razor be a flop? I just asked my Magic 8 Ball and it said…. “You’re only as good as your last razor, don’t rest on past accomplishments.”  Hey, don’t kill the messenger, see the folks at Mattel if you have a problem with that answer.

What do YOU think? Do YOU like the way it looks? Is it something that interests you or will you wait for the reviews?

I’m going to purchase the razor because I don’t give a rats arse what anyone else does, I’m doin’ ME.  I’m the guy who has to get up tomorrow and go down to Pharaoh’s Slave Pit and work for my shekels. I want to see what Andrew is made of NOW and I will give a very fair review.  If I like it, I’ll praise it and say it’s good.  If it sucks, I’ll tell you it sucks just like the first 2 he made and the fifth one.  Only this round is he really making the razor or is he the Project Manager? For me, doesn’t matter, it’s going to carry the Paradigm name, it better live up to that standard….Cheers

Truth be told….. I’m curious to see what you’re going to do with the finish Alan, lol. This razor is 316L, and I know how much you love to make 316 mirror!
