I know from my talks with him that number one his focus is getting the Ti Javelin out there and I also know it’s been difficult for him as he’s in NYC and the Corona 19 shutdown has been a little overwhelming for him to try as far as doing business as normal. . He was also hand polishing every Diamondback and I know he mentioned he’s not properly set up with all the right tools to do that efficiently. I don’t think he’s abandoning the Diamondback razor at all. That’s all the info I got at this point.

That was my understanding also, Ti Javelin is now the focus... The 2020 Diamondback’s that did made it into the hands of users will likely become the next 17-4 on the secondary market.

After polishing one razor myself, I can't imagine being happy doing even 100 of them (let alone copious quantities) unless there were some other huge driver. . . . .like making enough on sales to cover design and prototyping costs needed to bring one of your beloved ideas into reality. . . . .and then maybe read about it in threads like this.

I sure get the impression Andrew is a real shaving enthousiast who gets a lot of pleasure out of trying new things (as we all do!!!). He just has enough courage and know-how to expend time, effort, and capital to take charge of the process in a far more active manner than I do. . . . .(kind of like a soap maker I admire).

I think the result of Andrew's creative process is that 50 to 100 people get to share in the results of his hard work.

I know I wouldn't want to make several hundred of the same design without trying to improve performance (for my own use even) while adding a different aesthetic look too. Maybe someday, the design will be so perfect that Andrew will no longer wish to make a new statement with his next batch, but I for one hope he has more statements to make.

I guess I'm wondering why, if one has a device that is getting the thumbs up across the board, doesn't that design
get a permanent role in the line-up...while other better razor models can continue to be made.

I would imagine that there is still demand ...they do seem priced right.

I think his plan is like that. He wants 1 or 2 razors are permanent, and continue making new razors. #136

My guess would be that it might have something to do with the pretty big difference between being a “designer/artisan-builder-craftsman” or instead being a “business owner/manufacturer/employer.” Scale changes can transform the basic character of the enterprise/experience. Customer demand isn’t always enough to warrant that leap. Also, it can be really hard to “delegate” very high levels of personal craftsmanship.

This doesn't sound promising for me to get a Diamondback anytime soon or maybe ever. I hope I will get one eventually. I am not interested in paying a premium on the secondary market.

I think that a lot of people feel the same way. The BST kinda reflects that in my opinion. I know I won’t pay a premium for a used razor when there are plenty of other razors readily available.

A few DB's have been put up for sale at or below retail. Just keep your eyes open for future listings.

Guys, if you go back and read Andy’s posts in the last several pages of this thread, you’ll see that he already addressed these questions. Someone posted a page or so back that there’s been conflicting info on whether the DB will be re-released. Well, there’s actually been conflicting info given on that question by Andy himself. His last post on the matter, as I recall seeing it - and I’m paraphrasing - is that he reserves the right to do whatever he decides to do....and to change his mind along the way. So, there you have it....
