My "go-to" razors would be the Timeless .95 OC, the Rockwell 6S on plate 5, the iKon Shavecraft 101, and the SS Colonial General. Since this was my first shave with the 17-4, I very well could have used too much pressure. I definitely could have used too steep an angle, and in fact that seems like the most likely culprit based on the results I had. Like Andy mentioned, I probably should have stuck to my regular routine as well instead of changing it up for the first shave. I'm encouraged by your (and everyone else's) overwhelmingly positive opinion of this razor.

Paradigm Shaveware I'll definitely stick with it, but not before taking a day off this time. I probably let my excitement get the better of me and I should have waited until tomorrow before shaving with the 17-4 for the first time since that's what I normally do. Maybe my excitement resulted in some bad technique on my part as well. I expected mild, and maybe I subconsciously used too much pressure as a result.

One thing I will say, is that this razor is stunning. Of the more expensive razors I have tried (Timeless .68 SB & .95 OC, ATT R1, Barbaros TR2, Wolfman Guerrilla), the 17-4 is by far the best looking. It is absolutely stunning. I love the handle, and the finish is impeccable. I immediately texted a picture to a friend of mine and his response was fitting, "Damn, that looks sexy!"

I'll use it over the next couple weeks and report back once I can spend some time figuring out the right angle/pressure combination and once I have settled down and stuck to my regular routine instead of jumping the gun to get a shave in before my skin could handle it.

My first shave with the 17-4 was outstanding, smooth and efficient. My second shave with it was terrible, weepers and Razor Burn. I considered selling it, but had the excellent results the first Shave and the blade/soap combo were the same. The culprit was me using too much pressure. There isn’t much blade feel and I used too much pressure instead of letting the Razor do its thing. This Razor also has a ton of audible feedback which helps me to confirm I’ve got the correct angle. I’ve had nothing but excellent shaves with the 17-4 ever since. I think the Handle lends itself well to using a light touch also. The 17-4 has quickly become one of my favorites with an excellent blend of smoothness and efficiency that I haven’t been able to find in any other Razor.

Interesting. I use the Timeless .95 OC, Rockwell 6S with the #6 plate, and stainless General. The Paradigm, by a very slight margin, gives me a closer shave than all of these. I have others that are as efficient (e.g., Charcoal Level 3, R41 2011, etc.), but none that are as mild. Keep up the good work!

Right now, if I could only have one razor it would be the Paradigm 17-4. If I could keep 2, the second would be the Charcoal Goods level 3sb.

I can't imagine having only one razor. If I had to pick two, they would be the 17-4 and the Charcoal L3 open comb in antique brass, as well.

Did someone say these can be ordered directly from Paradigm?

No Bullgoose has exclusive rights up to this last release of titanium’s, then after that Andy said he will re evaluate.

When is the next batch of stainless supposed to be ready?

Does the Ti version shave exactly like the SS?

I'm pretty excited by the prospect of a new AC / SE. I converted to SE 17 months ago and have only used a DE for maybe 5% of my shaves since. It's been AC / SE probably 80% of the time. I'm excited to see what kind of design Paradigm Shaveware brings to the market.

I'm also hoping that Andy will sell direct to customers. He deserves to keep all of the profit considering he's done all of the work.

The ti now is identical to the 17-4 except for the handle and the weight. It should be easier to shave with less pressure without the razor fighting you.

As for more stainless, wish I could tell you. We are making fantastic progress on an AC, just about ready to begin prototyping. This would be ridiculously heavy in stainless, it's pretty beefy (though still quite maneuverable. At least it is designed to be.) So I'm going to use titanium again. At this juncture, can only produce a single model at a time.

Oh man, I like the way you think! I am going to be selling directly to the public, beginning with AC. Razors will also be available through Bullgoose and, in Europe, through giftsandcare.com.

Bullgoose gave me a critical place to begin and continues to deliver support. Without their marketing reach, Paradigm would never have gotten off the ground, default of a crowdfunding campaign or lottery winnings. They still provide very needed assistance with cash flow, marketing, and customer support. And it's beneficial to be in multiple sales channels. They help you reach members of the public who are not up on what's going on in wet shaving. So they do provide benefit.
