Paradigm 17-4 SS Razor

Everytime I read that a razor is so smooth but really efficient I say BS they must be shaving off peach fuzz. Tonight I have a new opinion. 1 1/2 day Grey beard growth.
Pre-shave proraso green
Soap proraso green
Wolf Whisker brush
Paradigm razor SS
Blade Gillette Red SS
First pass WTG. My first thought was here we go again smooth shave with zero blade feel, if not for the toast sound I thought I forgot a blade, when I rinse hardly any beard will be removed. WRONG! Took off nearly all the whiskers.
2nd pass XTG. Good sound and again no blade feel. If I would have stopped it would be DFS.
3rd pass ATG It was so smooth I even went across the grain on my neck, which for me is always difficult. Rinse, WOW cotton ball BBS.
IMHO this razor is amazing, beautiful look, shiny, great weight and the best DE First shave I have ever had. YMMV but I now believe a razor can be extremely smooth, easy to maneuver and give an awesome shave.

I'm trying so hard to not buy this razor I've never been interested in buying $$$ razors. I've exchanged emails with the founder, I find him one the most interesting and cutting edge artisans in this space.

I can't buy that razor , handle looks too smooth. Like the mamba, no knurling so super slippery if hands are wet and soapy.

Zero restraint I just ordered one!

I had no trouble with gripping the handle, but I have had that problem with other razors. I use alum for those razors on my fingertips

I completely agree with you Shavemd. Best razor I own. I have no regrets. The hype is real.

If it's really that efficient then you wouldn't need a 2nd or 3rd pass.      I am using a new DE razor that cost me $3.80 last year and I get a DFS in 1½ passes. Does the Paradigm at $230 shave 60.5 times better?

I think the Shave is different things to different people. Some people actually use traditional wet shaving as a way to save money over carts. For me it’s 30 minutes out of my day that is relaxing to me, a time that I can clear my head and have a little quiet time. I can get a good shave with an old vintage razor or with an R89, but for me I much prefer using my Charcoal Goods or Timeless. For me I appreciate the craftsmanship while using it, and I enjoy the fact that it’s a piece of functional art that someone designed and created. The Shave is certainly not 60.5 times better, but for me it’s a small thing that gives me enjoyment on a daily basis and something that I appreciate. Many of the brushes that I use are made by hand as well by talented craftsmen. I know that I can make lather just as well with an $8 synthetic, but again I get enjoyment out of seeing and feeling the craftsmanship while I use it. The same thing goes for Soaps. I could use Soaps that are MUCH Cheaper than the Grooming Dept, B&M Reserve, and Wholly Kaw with Donkey Milk, but for me the scents and performance of the Soaps are worth it to me. I consider it a small luxury, and for me it makes my shave that much more enjoyable. I don’t think using a $230 Razor or a $3 Razor makes anyone a sucker, it’s just personal preference. I don’t think anyone is saying all of these things make for a better Shave, but if it’s something that brings you enjoyment I don’t see anything wrong with it. I would never look at someone who uses a $3 Razor and a Palm Olive Shave stick and think they’re a sucker. If it’s accomplishing what you’ve set out to do then all is well. I used to hate shaving, but now it’s something I look forward to, and my shaves are better to boot.
