I can attest to the knot selection.  I just received my third from him this year, and they are fantastic.  The knots have very soft tips, solid backbone and fantastic splay.  He has configured every single one of my brushes perfect, and they were stock, just the way he released them.  He has a fantastic eye.

I cannot speak for the Sabini knotted Paladins, but I do have two Morris and Forndrans.  I prefer the knots that Ken is using to my Morris and Forndran knots. I just find them to be softer at the tips and more uniform.

Yes. Ken has spent countless hours looking at knots and have sacrificed countless others to figure out what works best for what applications.

This is also a big part of what goes into the brush and is a manual process. It's amazing the volume that comes out as is, yet we still find people complaining....

Yeah its interesting out there. A very entitled mentality purveys in the shaving community. Not sure what else can be done to satisfy the masses.

Before this year I had zero Paladins and now I have three. I'm probably very fortunate sure, but I feel like Paladins have been readily available. Ken gives everyone a long heads up as to when they are being released, how many brushes are being released, pictures of all of the brushes in the release and he seems to be putting out around 40 to 80 brushes a month. That's a ton. He has definitely made a big leap forward in production.

As far as his eye, yeah I am quite pleased with how these knots are performing. Its amazing how soft the tips are, with the amount of backbone they have as well. I honestly couldn't ask for more in a brush from a performance standpoint, as well as aesthetically.

I think Ken is finally dialing in the sweet spot of backbone and lather release and softness. I know he's worked very hard with his supplier to make sure that they also know what his standards and expectations are. A lot of people give those 'chinese knots' a bad rep, but there are some very nice things coming out of China as long as you can find a partner who cares about what you can get the buy-in from them as well.

I loved the initial round of knots and found them very strong in the backbone and scrub, but was just a tad behind in lather release. When Ken released the notes for the second round of knots and indicated that they REDUCED density of hairs my heart dropped a bit. But after trying these new knots I think he hit the sweet spot of still having fantastic backbone, while greatly improving lather release. Don't doubt Ken!

In the end of the day, Ken (and any other artisen out there) is always doing what's best for his business and fortunately for us his business is crafting old school brushes with modern techniques and materials. A win for all!

I'm not sure we'll offer Ebonite-handled brushes the same way we our more-or-less standard materials. For one thing, Ebonite will require special care (it's a little like silk in that respect), and I want to make sure it those brushes end up in the hands of buyers who have a full understanding and appreciation of what they'd be getting. Also, I think we're probably going to apply somewhat variable pricing to brushes with Ebonite handles.

We haven't worked it all out yet.

I didn't know that - very interesting Ken. Could you please elaborate a bit more, what the special care entails - or maybe point us into the right direction of this information?
