As for "...that doesn't stink!" - it can be taken one of two ways.  One, that Sin lacks a scent (thereby suggesting other PAA aftershaves stink) or...
I'm familiar with Will's tagline but just interpreted it as a humorous posting and clear play on words. I don't have any inside scoop nor follow it all that closely to make a definitive call to be honest.

Not sure what would be gained going after arguably one of the most accomplished "scentsmen" in the business other than perhaps there is no such thing as bad press.

Well, I have one half of the inside scoop, some supporting commentary and know Smythe's character enough to decide for myself. Wink

I guess I still don't get how it's a "jab" or a "dig"...

To me, if an artisan is going to make the claim that their aftershave is the world's most advanced, it should be understood that competitors will target that. That's marketing 101.

While it is nice to think that we all are participating in a familial atmosphere and creating a community environment, there is still expected to be competition in the marketplace. Competition breeds advances and improvements. It creates an atmosphere of one-upsmanship that drives the products further. This is precisely why there are so many good artisans out there.

Now..."...that doesn't stink"...I can see where that can be taken as a dig, but as a consumer, we should not take that personally. If Will and Douglas can maintain a cordial air of mutual respect, I see no reason why we, as consumers, should be up in arms over it, choosing sides and preparing to battle each other over preferences... I see it more as "Hey...The most advanced aftershave in the world! Cool! But we think it smells bad. So here is a performance-comparable product without the stink, because they don't make that."

Afterall, nobody gets out the skewers and torches when Burger King claims that flame broiled is better, or Ford claims to be able to tow a Dodge towing a boat, or when any Brand A claims to be better than Brand B in any direct comparison... It's marketing. It's how advertisements works...

But again...maybe that's just me...

Either way I don't have a horse in this race. I made my decision re: PAA long ago anyway.

Which is, by definition, an inside joke...

Do you mean you know the character of Douglas Smythe, or the integrity, intent, and character of the man playing the role of Douglas Smythe. Douglas is a fictional character...

Also, just to be clear...having 1 half of the inside scoop is not very much. And we all know how accurate the peanut gallery is with their "supporting commentary"...to be further clear, they are not at all accurate, either guessing or making stuff up more than half the time...so there is that to consider...

Don't you?

I mean, your comments are thinly veiled, and pretty clearly aimed at showing your distaste for the business practices of PAA, in every post you make regarding them.

That's fine, and I have no issue with you having and stating those feelings. But it is very difficult to claim that you "don't have a horse in this race" when you clearly have an agenda in your posts...

Again, definitions being what they, your agenda IS your horse...Giddy-up, Amigo!

I just checked and to get a single bottle shipped to me from a Canadian vendor, it would be $38.40USD or $50.45CAD for a bottle of the $29.95, 100ml AS.

Yikes. I can get a single bottle of 400ml Floid Blue shipped to me from overseas for $40USD or $53CAD.

Pass.

Like I said, I don't have a horse in this race. I only know how this was received by multiple people (who shall remain nameless) and see it just as I stated... Which was actually brought to my attention by one of said individuals. People can make up their own minds on this matter but knowing what I know - I indicated where I stand.

Yes, we get it.  You're a big PAA fan.  And that's your prerogative.  Let's not drag this issue out another page.

Isn't the screen cap a tongue and cheek reference to the fact that Sin [Spanish=without] is unscented and a nod to the fact that B&M doesn't offer the same? May be completely mistaken of course.

PAA Sin is not new. It's been out for as long as I've been using PAA. Not sure the intention of the advertisement but new it is not.

Sin was released (I'm guessing) about a year or so ago as an alcohol-free splash. This one is new and contains alcohol.
