Mixed metal Ascension DOC/Kai (2) bottom+Treet (1) top. Another experiment using twin blades with a width differential. Worked very well here, smooth and efficient.[Image: d7fb79b56077d8facc34744605ee5995.jpg]

Yesterday was so good, only change made was swapping aluminium plate for the SS. Same twin blade setup (Kai+Treet). Superb! [Image: a00c2daa3e8c5f15ef9e2fdbd7f32276.jpg]

How does using two blades compare to one blade?

Also, thanks to metal_shavings for his selling a SS Ascension to me!

Turns out PAA also has a few on the shelf that are not listed on the site. You can ask if they are still available via email to them.

I tried the normal blade on top of the Kai blade myself (tightened). It did shave, but it was rather uncomfortable, so i took the Kai out. One blade was much better, and you can turn up the efficiency as much as you like. Maybe two blades opened up a bit would be more comfortable? Something to try at a later date I suppose.

Why is it that this razor is so great? Opened up just a little, it is incredibly smooth and efficient, while still feeling very safe. Something about the severe curve makes the blade quite rigid somewhat akin to a slant. After a few shaves tightened down and opened up a smidge, I can say that the experience is very different. Tightened down is very nice, quieter and more efficient that a zamac Mellon. But opened up a little bit, it a smooth dream. The difference is quite stark. Hell, on a face off with a Soloedge (which I like), the comfort difference made me want to PIF the Soloedge immediately. I tried my Tile in a similar manner a few days ago, and I can't go back to it.

If you have this razor and have never opened it, give it a go!

(I did not like twin blades tightened. Will try slightly opened soon)

Edit: Tried the Twin blades opened up and bit and it was not so good for me. But thats ok, a single blade is really awesome!
