How come? I'm the exact opposite.

I find it hard to get under the nose and it’s harder to unload the blade.

Last nights shave with the Ascension Twist...

The Aluminum Ascension head with the SS Ascension handle. Still a bit handle heavy but, definitely better weight wise in my hands. Just a fantastic shave that left no doubt. First pass a 1/4 turned from tight had a very nice and efficient feeling shave. Pass 2 was just a quick tweak, maybe a 16th of a turn and an awesome finish with no touch ups. Not bad at all this Ascension from PAA. Sleeper in the making....

Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave
PAA SS DOC Ascension
Treet New Steel (2)
Yaqi Professional (30mm, Cruiser Class)
PAA Pineapple Bay Rum soap & AS

With the Ascension opened up a quarter turn I was able to use a much shallower angle which really made for a more comfortable and closer shave. Three passes brought home the baby.

Just gets better every time I use this razor. The smoothness and the combined deceptive efficiency is just excellent. Simple little twist here and there, bingo and it’s a great feeling shave. The value is amazing and the shave it gives is top notch.... Superb!

That's it ^. But it's not a deal breaker. They're wider than they need to be for no real practical reason.

I mean I'm a total doofus but I don't think I could cut my nose or ears with the tabs if I tried to saw them off let alone bump into them.

That said I may have to give this one a try.

I got back into town yesterday, and heading to the PO Box for my PAA package was the first thing I did. I have the nickel DOC and really enjoy it lot. Between the two I definitely prefer the weight and balance of the SS Ascension. My first shave with the Ascension was smooth and just this side of BBS. I tried both fully tightened and 1/4 turn loose. To be honest I didn't notice that big of a difference.

Monday I'm flying out of town again. I'm thinking of breaking my rule of not flying with a razor that cost me more than $20. Two days just isn't going to be enough time.

It's a damn fine razor and well worth the price tag.

Just wanted to post a quick review.

I have the PAA Ascension in stainless. I also have a rough beard and very sensitive skin. Normally in order for a razor to give me BBS, I have to shave until I get significant irritation.

The only razor I have found that gets around this is the Blackbird OC.

And now the Ascension.

This razor is smooth. The tightening/loosening in order to adjust the efficiency is not a gimmick. 3 shaves in and I can get a BBS that lasts a tad less long than with my Blackbird, but is much more comfortable, and much gentler on my skin.

I have heard reports that both a steep (ride the guard) and a shallow (ride the cap) angle works well. I am still trying to figure it out for myself. What do you gents find?
