PAA delivered. And then some......

Smooth and very efficient. Back off a 1/4 turn from tight and the blade exposure is increased giving an excellent feel while staying very smooth and quiet. I feel much better balance with even weight distribution as compared to the aluminum bodied one. Not that it was bad but, contrary to the fact it shaved very well. I just prefer a bit more weight in my razors and the SS version is spot on for me. Superbly done by PAA.....

I like both! Aluminum left SS right. The Aluminum version may just be my new travel razor. The SS version arrived today and I tossed in a new Feather blade/RR Big Bruce Brush/Cella Shaving Cream face lather, snugged it up and had a great smooth shave. I like the SS weight and balance. Any similarities to the RazoRock SLOC?

Thank you! It looks a lot like a RR Mamba in profile.

Which shave do you like better?

I'm still curious as to how the whole 1/4 turn thing works. Does it lock in place with the 1/4 turn? I guess I will find out when mine comes on Thursday.

Thanks for the laughs, truly enjoyed the first post in its entirety, and the follow-up. Big Grin

No. It does not lock into a specific setting or position. There is an extreme curvature that is designed into the razor head that allows for tension and a sort of springiness to the assembly once a blade is installed. That tension and curvature in combo with the razor blade gives subtle but tactile feel in feeling more or less blade in 1/8 turn or 1/4 turns from tight. You get a bit more blade feel and a nice kick in efficiency but still stays remarkably smooth.  Pretty basic inception and theory but,  it works very, very well. It delivers as promised.....

I left the Ascension fully tightened down. There was still a little bit of blade feel so I would say that this razor fully tightened down is mid aggressive. My only complaint about the SS Ascension is the handle knurling. The knurling isn't really deep enough for it to be grippy and it did feel a bit slippery at times. I do like the way the top comb re-hydrates the lather as you shave and keeps everything very slick.

How hard is it to maneuver? I don’t like razors that cover the blade tabs, but I’m interested in this one at such a low price.
