In fact, most often all I use is razor + water with no other product at all, and I get great shaves!

Although I do, maybe every other shave or every third shave, use nice soap with brush in bowl and an aftershave splash/balm combo. Its nice to pamper yourself with these things, but totally unnecessary IMHO.

Wow! I can't even imagine shaving my head without soap or cream. It hurts just trying to imagine it. I can sometimes get my touchups done without having to relather, by simply wetting my scalp and letting the residual slickness and moisturizers act as a protective barrier, but performing a full shave with nothing but water is very unique, I would think...

Lol I have tried for laughs and giggles to shave without any type of foam lather on the face on a 2 day growth, there is a difference and at least a little bit of lather is needed in my opinion.

What I noticed that it is not needed is as some people say you have to shave after shower for best results, well maybe if you have 2 weeks growth, but if u shave every 2/3 days or every day just wetting ur face with warm wather and let it stay wet for a minute before you start shaving does just as well the job like taking a shower

I wouldn't do this in front of a mirror, behind a sink. I shower shave, which supplies a continuous amount of water to an over-wet face. This extra water provides all the slickness required.

That makes more sense, I guess. I would still want some sort of lubrication. My teen years proved that water is a horrible lubricant, so I won't even attempt to shave in the shower...

Let's just say hot tubs and alcohol were involved...and the occasional out-of-the-way skinny-dipping pond...

Chris, let's just say that that was way too much information and, yet, not nearly enough. Big Grin

Oh yeah, I remember now, 1989 in a hell hole jungle in Panama chasing Noriega. Yes, I shaved like this many times, lol....not my favorite method back in the day, but necessary when setting an example as a young Infantry Officer.

This isn't exactly overrated; it's something I just don't get. Cushion. Why is this a desirable attribute in lather? You'll only get a close shave with the blade coming into contact with your skin, so what are you cushioning from? Cushion indicates a physical separation. Slickness is all that matters to me.
