Our Non-human Companions

This was Allie, a rescue from the Chattanooga, TN Shelter and was 15 minutes away from being put down when she was pulled and we were selected to adopt her from a list the rescuer had and reviewed. She was covered in mange and abused. Imprint of a chain around her neck. She was the dog that over the years bonded with me the most and the reason I wouldn't get another dog when she was gone. After 8 years I caved and we got or current rescue Abby. When she was nursed back to health (55 lbs of solid muscle) and I would walk her in our neighborhood people would stop me and ask if I would breed her. I just laughed and said none of that for her as she's fixed to protect her from that. Sorry for the rant. Tearing up as I type, RIP Allie....

Wonderful story, and Allie got her best life after being put through hell by some real pieces of $hyte, who don't deserve to be called humans.

Bluegrass, dog [God backwards ] keep me sane, happy and are a strong part of life - and strong evudebce on the existence of a supreme maker. Only God could have made such perfect companions. . I have a 13 year old Shelty who is my best mate. Honestly, I miss him more than my kids when I am on the road.

Our former Scottie “McDougal” back in 2013.  He couldn’t stop staring at this board painting I got for our kitchen, I mean it was at least 15 minutes.  He wanted to select a cut of beef I suppose.  

Here is what he really looked like. 

Archie has a stuffed hedgehog that he’s had since he’s come home  he loves that thing. He hasn’t destroyed it like so many other sacrificial chew toys.

New haircut. He got some mats and we’re trying to grow out his coat. it’s challenging because at 14 months old he still has a lot of his puppy coat and it mats easier.
