Our Non-human Companions

We just made the appointment for our pretty girl. Her final vet trip will be Wednesday afternoon. We found out on Monday that she has Thyroid cancer. She's 13.5 years old, and it's starting to affect her breathing, so we wanted to make the call before she starts having any significant discomfort.

So sad. It won't help you today, but in time think only good thoughts. One thing that might help is that you know she didn't suffer. They just go to sleep. I hope it was in loving arms.

Thanks everyone. The past few nights made it a little easier. Even though she seemed ok most of the day, she finally had some rough nights where she was obviously starting to get uncomfortable. She was almost 14, so I've been preparing for a while now. Still sad, but I know it was time.

I'm so sorry Garrett. No doubt the love you shared was a great and wondrous love. It is never easy to lose a love like that.

Had to say Good-Bye to our Hunter Lilly this morning after a 17 year journey together.  Man, the time goes by fast.  She was so brave right up to the moment she passed.  We laid her to rest this afternoon, with the others, right before the rains came.  We went through so much together, and the house feels so empty tonight.  I’m sure she’s with the members of the pack that went on ahead, and that they watch over us yet, still vigilant and faithful.
