I received a package from Top of The Chain of some soap I ordered last week. I wanted to get the latest Wholly Kaw Siero, Denarius (which is on a shipping delay right now at the border) and figured I'd get some of the other sieros that I already have as gifts for my son and my brother. I also thought I'd pick up a tub of Zingari Man to see what it was that put off the Shaving Tulsan so much. Well guess I wasn't paying attention at check out because I have two tubs of Zingari Man The Nomad which is Sweet Bay, Lime and Rum scented. The profile says this:
For the well-kept wanderer, this shave soap goes where you go. Take in the scents of Sweetbay, lime and rum. This is a fresher take on the traditional bay rum. Instead of heavy spice, we kept it a bit lighter with a more forward citrus pop. This is a sexy and masculine blend.
Well for a so called fresher take on a traditional bay rum its about as run of the mill been done a hundred times take on bay rum as there is on the market - I've got at least a half a dozen identical bay rum scent profiles in my basement box, brand new and unlathered -I'm a bay rum lover and I don't even like that particular blend and I wish soap makers would stop using it. Nothing says I have to have a bay rum in my lineup but don't really care enough about it to actually put in even a minimal effort to make sure that I'm not doing the same crap that every other like minded soap maker is doing. Come on, do better than that.
Now I have two tubs of this stuff and I'm not going to even lather it to see if Zingari Man soap base is any good. I'm not going to return it either because even though I know Carmine would take it back, its my dumb mistake and I accept that. I'll give the stuff away to someone I know hasn't smelled that scent to the point of distraction. Now I know what the Shaving Tulsan was on about.
