I was lucky enough to now get in a shave and spend some time with the hybrid option as well.
I noticed 2 assembly differences - this version which had a later SN seemed to have top cap posts that are a bit more “snug” on the blade(s) and the screw for assembly and bottom on the razor needed oiled (it squealed when it was assembled).
Back to the posts on the top cap. Every blade I put in and tried got “jacked up” near the end. The solution is if they made the posts slightly smaller or for you to push the blade down on the top cap posts before assembly.
The final result looks like this from each side which results in proper blade flexing and clamping regardless of how I got it there:
Now for the shave. I was eager to try the SCALLOPED COMBIT PERFORMED MARVELOUS!
The dual comb is great - I was very much at home on the scalloped side for all 2.5 passes. I would use this side to go over the freshly shaved skin of the straight bar and pick up more hair, yet it only had a tad more blade feel. To me, a scalloped two side razor would be THE IDEAL option.
The shave was performed on a 3 setting for WTG, 2 for ATG and touch ups of the jawline. The results were smooth, DFS+ to a BBS- result but no irritation or fuss.
Years ago when I was toying with the Rockwell 6S and adjustable this would have put all of the questions to rest. As far as the Fatboy and Slim, no comparison. In fact, only the original Gibbs shaves better for me as an adjustable.
Is this razor a keeper - yes. In fact the blue coated knobs are probably the way I would want it. I do have trouble seeing the dot but I just put nail polish on it for now, which can be easily removed and will need to be constantly applied if you use this razor daily.
All in all, it’s the modern adjustable most of us have been looking for.

Many thanks to cigarman Wally for sending me his Olilblade Adjustable razor to try out. I did my first shave with it this morning and I had 2 days growth. Not know the razor I did my first WTG pass on #4 setting with a once used Gillette Platinum Blue ( Russian made ) and I have to agree with many on here and especially Clouds assessment of the razor. It’s the closest to a vintage Gibbs and I got a excellent 2 pass shave going both WTG and I did a ATG using the #2 setting as again this was my first time with the razor and I’d probably just stay on 4 or 3. I’ll have to play with that but I ended up with a mixed BBS/DFS shave. The blade feel was minimalist so very smooth. I know it’s only one shave under my belt but at this point I have to say I really like this razor.
I’ll get a couple more shaves in and report back.

I must have gotten one of the last ones before the “redesign”. Debut outing last night, did my usual three pass shave at number three and can only echo the sentiments on this thread – exceptionally smooth, close and comfortable. Quite impressed! Looking forward to getting to know this better in the near future ….

It was originally due for delivery on Monday, but it went on the wrong truck and is in Oakland CA; I'm in Colorado... Last I checked Oakland isn't in between AZ and CO. Obviously, it's not the manufacturer's fault. Gotta love USPS.
My all blue razor went from Phoenix to Memphis back to Phoenix and then finally to Vegas. It took USPS a week to delivery it…just ridiculous!
