You have me both excited, and worried.  I have my first order coming in this week and as much as I LOVE a good scent, “artificial and sugary” gives me headaches as well.

Here’s to you (hopefully) being more sensitive than me lol!

Maybe use Tylenol as a pre-shave?

Proving that scent especially is YMMV, I have Sandalumo and Frankie & Myrna and do not find either artificial or sugary. Performance is excellent and both scents are very inviting. They open and deepen with use. There are other scents in the line that I would worry about, but these are really nice.

Well, I’m a couple of shaves in with Dapper Man, which is a Canard base soap, and all I can say is that I’m impressed. The scent is modeled after Amouage’s Beach Hut Man, and I love it! Somehow, the scent brings to my mind Aramis’ Tuscany Per Uomo, which I had years ago.

This may be the strongest-scented soap I have ever used, but thankfully, I’ve experienced no irritation whatsoever. Even though I rinse my brush well, the scent still lingers in it. I don’t mind.

The lather is easy to create and is beautiful and slick. Truly a great soap. Sadly, this was a limited edition, of which 30 were ever made.

You lost me at “strongest-scented soap I have ever used.” Not my thing...at all...Perhaps if they make an unscented?

I’m definitely not one to obsess over scent strength. This scent happens to be very nice, so I enjoy it, but I also enjoy plenty of soaps that could be classified as weakly scented.

I do believe there is an unscented Canard base soap available from Oleo.

I know. But...I wonder if it’s truly unscented or if the base itself has its own scent. Anyway...I’m content now with WK, GD...for now...

I've got Frankie and Myrna and haven't used it yet. I'm probably going to give it to my son. I also have El Cabellero which I tried in the non duck base and liked the scent so I'll probably keep that one.

That’s a good question. I suppose very few soaps are truly unscented. (Personally, I’ve used one with just the slightest “clean” scent and didn’t mind it at all. No tallow or other scent lurking in the background… Another one I’ve tested was a bit more soapy in a sharp way.)

It’s good to hear you’ve found a couple that work well. I did find this post (below) — perhaps @"mcqueen5" can comment on whether the unscented Canard is truly free of scent or not.

I agree with all that’s been said above and can add that I’ve shaved with the other two duck fat bases on the market and this is on par.  Given the reasonable price, and the pleasant fact that it was available when I wanted to purchase a tub....all great things to me.

Forgot to add....lathering this soap was intuitive. I found it easy to load my badger brush with enough soap for a three pass shave.  It held water and maintained a yogurt-ty lather that I’ve come to enjoy.

Happy to chime in. The unscented base does have a scent, but it’s very faint and actually quite pleasant. It’s the smell of Kokum Butter (one of the primary ingredients).
