Are there marmots in Georgia?

Woodchucks are also known as “groundhogs,” “marmots” or “whistle pigs,” (the term comes from the whistling noise they make to alert others of danger) are familiar to many living in the North Georgia Mountains. They are short-legged, short-tailed furry little rodents found primarily in the northern half of Georgia.

Well, Dave...you got me there!  Blush

However, us marmots don't think too much of the woodchuck and only speak of them in hushed tones. They are the red-headed stepchildren of our family tree. It's like they're too lazy to hoof it up to a proper mountain with alpine meadows. Oh, and have you seen the North Georgia Mountains...they're not fit to be called foothills where I come from! Cool

I know what you are thinking, "If you feel that way, why are you in Georgia?" Well, a job brought me and I stayed for the peach cobbler and sweet tea! You wouldn't expect this, but for a marmot...I've got a sweet tooth! Big Grin

PS...and don't get me started on the whistle pigs...we just don't have the time!

That what the net says. Marmots are cute playful critters at tree line in the West. If the good gentlemen from GA says he is the only one - That is good by me. I did have an elementary school mate in NH who somehow got bit in the arm by a woodchuck. Marmots are west; woodchucks East. Don’t get me started as a Coke is a Coke ______ in GA.

Preach, Brother! Happy2 Marmots have much respect for mountain bears. Perhaps in the future, over a Coke, we can discuss our shaving challenges...so much hair! Big Grin BTW...we'll steer clear of any discussion of "New" Coke...what were they thinking! Confused2

Random Marmot thought of the day...

I wonder how Marmot hair would work in a shaving brush?

Just look at those natural white tips!

Maybe we need to try hand-tied Marmot knots? lol

I gotta say, that is one good looking marmot! Since you were practically raised by marmots, is that one of your family?  Big Grin

BTW...I do have luxurious hair. So, perhaps you are right...I might be interested in a marmot shaving brush! Happy2

Oh my...then I clicked on the Etsy listing and I only had one thought run through my mind...Ethel, is that you!!!  Confused
