'Official' Rockwell 6C Arrived Today-Superbacker Packaging

So, this is just a zamak version of the 6S, isn't it?. Interesting. I hope it makes it soon into Europe.

Just received mine today and the top cap doesn't seem to screw on to the handle very smoothly, actually pretty rough like it's getting caught up in areas that are not smooth. So I took a good look at the threads on the cap and noticed the threads are flattened on two sides are they supposed to be like that? I attached a pic and you can see one of the flat sections. The threads are also flattened on the opposite side. One edge of the top cap is also a little rough.

In the first pic you can see the flat spot one one side of the threads, the side opposite this side is flat as well. The second pic shows the rough spot along the edge of the cap.


Anyone else had any of these issues?

Dave, the SS edition has the same feature. It's the same design. Must be something else.

Yeah, after screwing/unscrewing the top cap from the handle about 10 times it now screws on fine. The plating on the edge of the cap is still a little uneven though. I've contacted Gareth and he responded very quickly to address the situation.

One of the things I love about the wet shaving community is that by far the majority of artisans show great regard for their customers and have excellent customer service despite how busy they must be and Gareth is no exception!

Follow up two.
Gareth put me on the list for the gun metal after receiving my email, so I guess I don't have the right finish. I will blame these (getting) older Mach 1 eyeballs!

I find the shaves to be very similar, and very smooth; very good.

I'm thinking getting 6C gunmetal what you meant similar shave?

I've been having similar concerns regarding the Rockwell 6s lately. I've had it for a few months and really like it. I've got a number of excellent razors both modern and vintage that I really like but I haven't picked up in a while. I've got 3 razors with Chris at RazorPlate right now, 2 techs being redone in gold and an F1 Fatty - my birth year/quarter razor, and I'm wondering if I'll give them the use they deserve. One of the Techs is destined for my son. I think the key is to use discipline and schedule the razors you want to use in a rotation giving each one at least a week and preferably two weeks so that you properly re-acquaint yourself. The danger is that (dare I say this) the Rockwell seems to work so easily that I believe my technique may deteriorate over time - does that make sense? Seriously, I find myself wielding the Rockwell on 4 with a Feather with the reckless abandon of Errol Flynn wielding a sabre in one of those swashbuckling Captain Blood pirate movies. I know I can't do that with a Wolfman at least without paying in blood.

I have had my Rockwell 6C for about two weeks now, and am 12 shaves in, five or six with the R4 plate. As I learned to use this razor, I am finding myself thinking of Marko and his swashbuckling shaves! It really does seem like that, one you find your "sweet spot" of technique and plate. I have to go out of my way to nick myself (well, not too far out, just careless enough!). I love that I can really enjoy the shave and get such a great result, without over-shaving or gripping the vanity with white knuckles as I try not to shave my nose off!! (I'm looking at you, Old Type!). And I still worry that my treasured Slim Adjustable has stiff competition now for best razor!

Isn't it a blast though? I shaved with a Wolfman/Feather yesterday and close attention was paid while today using the Rockwell 6s #3 / Feather, a little more relaxed approach was sufficient. If take the Rockwell to #6 with a Feather I do indeed have to pay very close attention - its a very flexible razor.

It finally made it out of Illinois today and is currently in Frankfurt, Germany. I live in Alberta, Canada. I'm not sure if the thing has gone astray or if DHL routes everything through Germany. Seems a bit inefficient if you ask me. I have no expectation of seeing the razor any time soon.
