I recently received this EXCELLENT brush from Scott (life2short1971 on Etsy).  The alumilite handle is simple and classy, ergonomic and beautiful. The 24mm High Moutain White Badger is PERFECT - very dense, but with a great flow through; great, but not excessive backbone without any detectable glue bump; perfectly shaped knot, soft tips with barely pronounced gentlest scrub. I have quite a few premium brushes, and this Cinderella outperforms most of them!!!

I commissioned a few new brushes from Doug Korn 55dougie. I had two Muhle 25mm Silvertip Fibre Brushes, whose knots I love, but the handles weren’t the best. Enter Mr. Korn who has made several brushes for me in the past with excellent results. The first Brush is a DK7 Variant (no upper lip) Short & Heavy with Faux Ivory over Aqua Marine. The second Brush is a DK7 Short and Heavy with Faux Ivory over Clear Root-Beer. Doug Korn does beautiful work and is a pleasure to deal with. If your looking for something custom, Mr. Korn would definitely be on my short list.

Stunning work by Doug, as usual! Did he extract the STF knots from the original handles? (I, too, am a fan of the XL Silvertip Fibre knot.)

Matsilainen, Doug did extract the STF knots from the original handles for me, I just sent him my complete brushes and then he worked his magic. The STF brushes are some of the best synthetic knots out there in my opinion.

Silvertip Fibre knots are very versatile — great knots, for sure.

It’s always interesting to see the various kinds of plugs at the bottom of knots that are used in mass-produced brushes. (I’ve seen Epsilon, Parker, and now Mühle.) Always something more going on, compared to knots that you would just buy separately from a small-scale vendor.

Mail Call:- Today I've received 2 Gem Micromatic Eye Bullet Tip the flying wing from 1947, however the Gold GEM is in fantastic condition and doesn't need replating and the door open and close is very smooth with the bottom turning dial.

The chrome (silver) GEM will be replating very soon in nickel next year in 2018 when I send this to Dave in NZ, while I'm waiting on the GEM Personna coated blades from Connaught Shaving in UK very soon I'll be shaving with the Gold Micromatic Eye Bullet Tip. I'm so glad the Bullet Tip hunting season is over it's been a long time for me to get these in great condition, and I'm going to keep these until I'm dead so I can pass this on to my youngest cousin in my family...... see below [Image: m0126.gif]
