Not Your Father;s Rootbeer

This may be old news to some but this past weekend I picked up some "Not Your Father's Root Beer" from Illinois based Small Town Brewery. I wasn't sure what to expect but regardless, if it is or was my Father's root beer, it is now mine! Great small batch root beer flavor with plenty of refreshing spice and an alcohol kicker [my bottle was labeled 5.9% ABV; they also apparently have an LE at a whopping 10.7%].

If you are a craft beer enthusiast and are looking for something a little off the beaten path, I heartily recommend.

it tastes great, but it's VERY sweet. I could only drink 1 or 2 max before I had enough.

I've heard a lot of buzz about this one. I'd like to try it, but it's scarce in my neck of the woods. Will definitely keep an eye out for it.

It is sweet, like root beer to my taste but was really a thirst quencher standing in front of the grill. I did grab a Kol for round #2 but was very pleased. Not sure about the float yet...

Leonidas, I actually picked it up at Total Wine here in Austin. Great store with a huge selection and just opened another location nearby.

I purchased a six pack a week or two ago. I still have a few left. It tastes EXACTLY like root beer, and might even be a bit sweeter. This is not something I would drink multiple bottles of, if I drank two I'd probably get a stomach ache. Even with it being 5.9%, I didn't really feel any alcohol effect like I do with some other beers with the same ABV.
They're great after dinner drinks if you're looking for a sweet treat. I would buy it again.
